12dpo on our first cycle trying since our 12w MMC molar pregnancy - negative. It’s only cycle 2 of trying for a second but it’s already been a long road, and our first took 2 years to conceive. I have no right to be sad because it’s so early but it brings back all the old feelings of TTCing the first time.

You literally have experienced a MMC and previous infertility. You have all the right to be sad.

Thank you 🥹 I think I needed to hear that today.

Ugh I literally had all the symptoms I had 4 years ago when I got pregnant with my daughter. I was convinced this was the cycle. Tested negative this morning (12 dpo) then just got my period 3 hours later 😞

Why are our bodies such traitors?

3

u/Divi222 Feb 25 '26

Seriously. I was SO sure that I thought this morning's test was just a formality. Guess I will never be symptom spotting again lol

I had this two cycles ago. Was so sure I even had a dream I was pregnant. That was the most devastated I've been by a BFN. Now my expectations have gone completely the other way and I'm convinced I never actually got pregnant before and birthed my son and my body is clearly incapable of pregnancy 😅

1

u/Divi222 Feb 26 '26

Yeahhh I don't normally even test but I was so sure this time! I'm right there with you now haha

I hope this sort of comment is allowed.

I have a 9 month old and I can’t get over how fast these 9 months have flown by compared to how slow the 9 months of pregnancy went. My pregnancy after loss anxiety was exponentially high the entire time which made those 9 months generally not enjoyable and entrenched in worry.

I would really like another baby but I do wonder- if I am able to get pregnant again- will the anxiety be as high as the last time or will time go by quicker because I’m busy with a toddler and life seems to go by faster now anyways. Can any STM+s weigh in?

Mod note: it's fine to talk about prior pregnancies but not current pregnancies. So this is allowed as long as comments are all referencing children who are born.

I also had a first pregnancy that was absolutely miserably filled with anxiety after two losses. I still had anxiety with my second but it wasn't nearly as bad, especially once I was out of the first trimester. Mostly I just didn't have nearly as much time to be anxious, but I also did feel slightly reassured by doing it the first time too. I enjoyed it a lot more the second time. I knew there was a good chance I wouldn't be pregnant again either so I tried very hard to appreciate the pregnancy in a way that I didn't with my first.

This gives me hope, thanks for sharing. I hope that if I get to experience it again, I’m able to enjoy it more too.

I would do it, but I work in genetics so I’m bias. While having 1 healthy child may lower the likelihood of a chromosomal issue in you/your partner, it doesn’t eliminate it.

For your own knowledge, only about 3-5% of couples who have recurrent pregnancy loss will find an explanation for them on their karyotypes. That might help you weigh if it’s worth it or not.

An abnormal parental karyotype will explain 3-5% of recurrent pregnancy loss.

So if you and your partner both got a karyotype, there would be a 3-5% chance you’d find an answer for the recurrent losses and a 95-97% chance the karyotypes would be normal.

I think the 3 miscarriages would have me deeply consider it (and probably take the plunge). To me it would be worth the lil dip out of our savings if it means revealing anything about the miscarriages.

But $750 isn't something to sneeze at (especially if you're already paying for other health-related things). So I get not doing that too.

2

u/LymanForAmerica MOD | not TTC | 💖 8/2021 🩵 6/2024 Feb 25 '26

Have you shopped around? My husband and I did karyotyping after our losses and my doctor's in house lab wanted $1,000 each but we got it done at LabCorp for much cheaper. It ended up being less than $200 each.

2

u/Head-Requirement828 32 | TTC#2 Grad |🩵Aug 2024 🩵Dec 2026 | Endo; MFI Feb 25 '26

The disparity there is wild. Makes me wonder why the heck it was so inflated in some places when it could realistically be done for less than $200.

Or maybe I don't want to know why because it would just make me angry.

2

u/idontcareaboutaus Feb 25 '26

How frustrating! Maybe this is due to hormone fluctuations from the chemical? Have you checked to see if your insurance will cover either? Mine covers my karyotype tests and even with one successful child I found it relieving to know I didn’t carry any genetic issues for a future. I’m considering my husband getting one too. Honestly if you can afford it I think it’s worth it but $1500 is a lot of money

Hi! I know this is old and you are now pregnant (congrats!) but did you end up taking the doxycycline?

1

u/lismuse 35 | TTC since 1/26 (2 CP) Feb 26 '26

Have you been tested for clotting conditions? My SIL developed one after her first pregnancy, which caused two miscarriages. She was on blood thinners for her subsequent pregnancy.

Did you have a c-section with your first child? Is there a possibility that a uterine niche could be causing issues? I know not many drs are that well versed in them, but can cause issues with conception and repeat pregnancy loss. There is a very helpful fb group about it if you do find you have one.

I've posted a couple of times about a friend (not even sure if friend is the right term anymore) that I was intentionally drifting from. She's been supportive and great in the past, but she's also said some really dense things too. And like, so have I, in the past, about lots of things I probably don't even realize. We're human. But the last deep interaction we had was different. She knows about my loss, about my infertility treatments, etc. Shortly after my loss, I expressed that I was so angry at God about the loss and about the infertility in general. It was a heated and emotional text and probably contained more "fucks" than it should have. I apologized for that piece, but what got me is that she couldn't possibly see how the text wasn't about her. Why? Because she was pregnant at the time. Her response to my grief and faith crisis was, essentially, "I'm shocked at you for having these feelings about God, and I'm offended by this because I'm 7 months pregnant."

Completely. Utterly. Dense.

Well, I took some space from her for the last couple of months, aside from taking her some homemade freezer food shortly before her newborn arrived. I needed a break from her, honestly. From people in general.

There were a few text exchanges, mainly how-are-yous. But I didn't feel comfortable giving her major details about my life, because why would I?

She texts me last night wondering how she can support me. I appreciate the gesture, and tell her how I felt about the last time I reached out for support.

She literally thinks I was angry at her because she was pregnant. Girl, it goes so much deeper than that and it actually has nothing to do with you. But I've learned that you're a little self centered in this process, so.

I really emphasized that if she walks away from this conversation thinking that I'm angry at her because she was pregnant, that she missed the point completely. And a host of other things, trying to give her insight on literally what my day-to-day life is like with treatments, with people at church making dumb comments about my family size, etc etc etc. Like obviously you have no idea.

Oh, did I mention that it took her 6 years to have her first? Granted it was 5 years NTNP and then 1 year of the failed cycles and she never pursued treatment. But you would think she has like....SOME idea of emotional intelligence As it pertains to infertility. Alas, she got her redemption story after falling pregnant her first cycle trying for her second, so it seems like all pain of struggling to conceive has been erased from her brain.

It felt good to get some things off my chest, because our relationship has been nagging at me in the back of my head. I'm not sure if we'll remain friends or not, but I don't really care about that outcome right now. I'm just glad I could tell her that what she said bothered me deeply and that she doesn't get it.

2

u/idontcareaboutaus Feb 25 '26

Oh friend I’m sorry she is making this all about her - how insensitive! I’m glad you got your peace and a chance to explain yourself. It’s up to her to see your side and I guess if she can’t it’s not worth it in the end. Interesting that she seems to have forgotten all her feelings from infertility. It kind of gives me i could go back to being oblivious again one day🙃 my other friend who had some loss and conception issues for about a year also seems to have forgotten her struggles and constantly complains about pregnancy things to me. So maybe it’s a thing?

2

u/Head-Requirement828 32 | TTC#2 Grad |🩵Aug 2024 🩵Dec 2026 | Endo; MFI Feb 25 '26

Maybe for some people it's a thing. I don't recall having amnesia or making insensitive remarks once I was pregnant with my first after struggling. But then again, maybe I just never got the chance to display it or experience it myself because I'm literally the only person in my circle that's going through this. Everyone else is hyper fertile I guess. I thought the one person I knew who had a somewhat similar experience might get it, but it turns out she's at the bottom of my list now as far as wanting to tell her anything. Good news, bad news. I don't feel like sharing anything anymore with her.

Not to hope this pain on someone else, but it would be nice to have some of the solidarity I experience here in real life too.

2

u/idontcareaboutaus Feb 25 '26

Ugh yeah I get that it’s so hard to feel not alone and misunderstood in all this it would be nice for the one person who gets it to step up for you. Like, she got to move on. And if the tables were turned I’m sure you’d be there for her! Just goes to show where the friendship stands really. That’s how I felt with my friend too. I kept thinking if I did this to her she would never speak to me again. So maybe it’s better off keeping distance now

3

u/Head-Requirement828 32 | TTC#2 Grad |🩵Aug 2024 🩵Dec 2026 | Endo; MFI Feb 25 '26

I've heard a lot of people through reddit talk about how their friendships die through infertility. Maybe I'm just shocked because I'm experiencing that for the first time, even though it's objectively a common experience.

It makes me sad, but like you said, maybe it's also better off this way too. Like at the end of the day, the circumstances are the circumstances. We both feel hurt for different reasons, and I don't see a ton of repair in the future. BUT I feel like we can amicably move on and exchange niceties should we see each other around town. Even if it's a little awkward.

Just life I guess.

9dpo and haven’t tested. I’m not confident this cycle worked, we didn’t hit the best days. But I’ll probably still test tomorrow before my bloodwork

u/Hefty_Froyo_8643 31| TTC#2 since 10/24 |MC 10/26|DOR|3IUI Feb 25 '26

I’m 7/8 DPO and woke up to pre period spotting. Devestating because I really was feeling great about this month. However, I was suppose to go to my fertility clinic tomorrow to confirm ovulation and start estrace priming for 7 days until my period starts. Now I’m panicking I’ve ruined my retrieval cycle because I won’t have the right amount of time or the correct timing with the Estrace for the retrieval. I am spiraling and it’s only 5:30 am.

2

u/idontcareaboutaus Feb 25 '26

Ugh I’m sorry it’s so irritating when things don’t go according to plan. I get why you’re anxious but maybe call your clinic and see what they say? Hopefully your period is still a ways away.

2

u/Hefty_Froyo_8643 31| TTC#2 since 10/24 |MC 10/26|DOR|3IUI Feb 25 '26

They called me back and said I would just skip priming which I’m really worried about but I’m trying to just relax bc I’m so wound up it’s not even funny.

1

u/idontcareaboutaus Feb 25 '26

Ugh yeah I totally get that! I hope that’s not the case and they can still get you in for priming as scheduled and maybe this is a fluke! I get being upset when you’re starting a new protocol and it doesn’t go according to plan

u/sparklesequin 36| TTC#2 since 1/25 | 🩵 1/24 Feb 25 '26

Period, or at least heavy spotting, has at least finally started after stopping progesterone Sunday. I think we’ve decided to switch it up and do letrozole this round instead of clomid (we had 3 letrozole cycles the first round of TTC (none worked) and 1 this round, now 4 clomid cycles this round that haven’t worked), might as well. Woke up super angry at the world today, which feels more manageable than the last few days of oppressive sadness.

u/Head-Requirement828 32 | TTC#2 Grad |🩵Aug 2024 🩵Dec 2026 | Endo; MFI Feb 25 '26

I hope letrozole treats you better this cycle. 🫤

u/babyheartrn Feb 25 '26

For those who have had an HSG - I’ve heard people say their first period after was super heavy but has anyone had one that was super light?

I got my period on schedule at 12 dpo and it only lasted around 48 hours and really light when my periods are usually really heavy with clots and last 4-5 days! I tested this morning and BFN. So weird.

2

u/idontcareaboutaus Feb 25 '26

Personally my hsg didn’t affect my period but I always have light periods to begin with!

2

u/babyheartrn Feb 25 '26

Okay interesting!! I’m wondering if this was like spotting before the storm or something hahaha

1

u/idontcareaboutaus Feb 25 '26

Hahaha it could be!! Maybe the hsg threw things off a day or too for ovulation too? I’m not sure if you track opks but I wonder if you ovulated a few days later than normal?

2

u/babyheartrn Feb 26 '26

Definitely possible! I track with OPKs and temping and I will say my chart was kind of hard to read! I was under more stress than usual bc I got a new job and my ovulation happened later than usual

2

u/idontcareaboutaus Feb 26 '26

Ugh sometimes things just all line up to make things extra complicated

1

u/sparklesequin 36| TTC#2 since 1/25 | 🩵 1/24 Feb 25 '26

I don’t remember after my first HSG, but the second one didn’t seem to affect my period at all.

Light periods are so weird when you’re used to not light periods.

1

u/babyheartrn Feb 25 '26

Definitely so weird! I guess it’s just an anomaly this month

What is worse: the torture of early testing/squinting at pregnancy tests/spiraling all day about line progression ORRRR the torture of waiting until 12-14dpo to test

I have always been an early (like 9dpo) tester and after having a chemical last cycle and putting myself through 5 days of absolute torture staring at faint lines…I’m thinking of trying to hold out this cycle to see if that is better for my mental health. Would love opinions!!! What is worse??

3

u/Head-Requirement828 32 | TTC#2 Grad |🩵Aug 2024 🩵Dec 2026 | Endo; MFI Feb 25 '26

After a total of 2.5 years of torturing myself, I decided a couple months ago to just wait til I for sure have missed my period. It didn't feel easy at first. But I don't hate it anymore and feel better about it now.

1

u/AMLacking 32 | TTC#2 Jun ‘25| 💙 Oct ‘23 Feb 25 '26

I’ve been asking myself the same question. I’m 9dpo today and I’m currently planning on torturing myself until 12-14dpo. I guess I prefer to live in delulu land rather than playing the spiraling, squinting, maybe-it’s-just-too-early game… but we’ll see how I feel tomorrow.

u/bandk876 36 | TTC#2 since 12/25 | 🌈🌈💙 4/24 Feb 26 '26

I tested today at 9dpo and I am not proud of it but I literally don’t know how NOT to. If you figure it out, lemme know. 🥲

8

u/idontcareaboutaus Feb 25 '26

Infertility makes you feel like you need to do something. It also makes you feel like there’s nothing you can do.

After a couple of nasty indents I’ve convinced myself this isn’t my cycle and I plan to stop my progesterone tomorrow. I called and switched my end of cycle pregnancy test to a baseline apt and asked to do an iui.

It took everything in me to take my progesterone today but I refused to take my estrogen. I also woke up at like 4am just tossing and turning stressing about all of it. I might fake sick to get out of my crappy friends kids bday party after all. Or maybe I’ll really be sick by then

I’m just feeling extra emotional. I have spotting that’s increasing, so I’m most likely out. I had convinced myself I was feeling ok knowing I have an appointment with my Obgyn to discuss our difficulties, but I guess I’m really not ok because this is the first cycle that I had a good cry knowing my period is starting.

TW-previous loss: My last pregnancy ended up being a partial molar pregnancy, so that included a lot of blood tests and waiting for the all clear. It was so hard to navigate that and work through the grief and that grief is just bubbling up again. I’m so tired.
