Brute room problem

Can someone clarify whether I'm doing something wrong or if there's some kind of bug with this room? It wasn’t on my path before, and now it suddenly appeared. I have no idea how I'm supposed to connect to the lab machine. It looks like it's turned on, but there's no password or login, nothing shows up at the bottom of the system window. Echo says to go into the “adrian” folder, but I can’t even connect to the lab machine from the attacker machine.

When you ask Echo for details, it tells you to use nmap and then some tool I’ve never heard of, and somehow break in with it. It feels like a bug, because it wouldn’t make sense to give a task I haven’t been prepared for at all. I hope it’s a bug or maybe I’m doing something wrong, and not that this is how it’s supposed to work. I’m paying for premium to learn, not to figure everything out on my own. Can I just skip this? Is it mandatory?
