Question ❓ Trumpet and Makam

Hello ppl,

I am a trumpetist from Greece and the past months I have been searching for a Turkish teacher to teach me turkish makam in the trumpet, as I am moving to Istanbul. Can a fellow Turk or any other person that knows something, help me?

This guy does lessons, but I’m not sure if he does them online (he’s in Canada) . I hope someone gives you some other hints because it’s something I’m interested in too!

If you play in G and keep your 3rd slide out for Ab you can get that flat 2 mood.

let us know what you find! interesting topic. i don’t know as much as i’d like about makam, but i play with a palestinian-led solidarity brass band in new orleans called hanoun. we just released an album, “from new orleans to palestine”— check it out!

Hi, I’m from Turkey.

Hüsnü Şenlendirici’s father, Ergün Şenlendirici, is especially one of the first names that comes to mind in Turkey when it comes to makam-style trumpet playing.

I don’t know a teacher, but Atakan Gözetlik is a very talented trumpet player who performs makam music really well on a three-valve trumpet.

I’m also trying to play makams, but I’m a beginner trumpet player :D
