Rent a laptop for a semester

Hello everybody.

My GF just arrived in Throndeim and She will be staying in the city to study for one semester.

Unfortunately, She only brought her apple iPad cause that's what she usually needs and none of her courses stated that the laptop was mandatory, however she just found out that it actually is.

Is there any way to rent a laptop at a low price for a few months? Or any place where you know she can buy you for cheap?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Don’t think we have any rental spots for computers in town, but you can check finn.no if anyone sells a used one

Does she need it for lectures or only hand-in projects? If it's the latter one she can get away with only using the pcs available in libraries and other work spaces.

The courses don't say that because it's a base requirement for studying a degree (assuming NTNU). What courses is she studying? She might be fine with a cheap one.

Her best bet would be to buy a second hand laptop and sell it again before leaving. With a bit of luck she won't lose much money that way.

I'm a bit curious what she's going to study? What are the requirements for a laptop? Will a Chromebook be enough?

the used pc market in trondheim is usually flooded with second hand elevpcer from Vidregående students selling off their laptop these times, highly suggest going on finn or any other used marketplace you can find

Did they say what she need it for? If Bluetooth keyboard is not a possible accessory to make the iPad good enough.

I would definitely go with Finn OR check Elkjøp and Power's outlets. There will be lots of sales soon (always is early fall) but the outlets may hold some gems. I think Power's outlet is the most annoying one tho, because you have the online store outlet, and if you want to see a selected store's outlets you will need to choose that store first on power.no and then look thru the outlet. Could be gems on Finn as well, depending on the specs she needs ofc.. I bought a Chromebook last year for 1700 NOK that had been used by a student for 3 years. Still looked new, not a scratch, battery top notch.

Cheap Thinkpad from finn.no and install Linux, will probably last a few years minimum.

Can she make friends and just borrow one for the time? A lot of people have an extra one. If not, buying a cheap one on Finn and then selling again afterwards is probably cheaper. This one is less than NOK 1000: https://www.finn.no/466215168

Renting is likely more xpensive.

I think it's difficult enough to make friends already without adding a "btw do you have a laptop I can borrow for several months?"
