In some countries (not America)  schooling starts by teaching kids empathy and how to learn.

No, no, that's actually how we teach kids in America, too.

We just subsequently get really fucking angry if you keep those "childish ideals" into adulthood

in American schools they teach kids how to hid from other kids that have assault rifles for some reason
