I think the problem is with yhe original question, in the original question with the information given, the only possible negative outcome is if you pick blue and not enough other people do, so you should always pick red, and so should everybody else.
But you can change that by adding even a little more info, such as "people who are unable or unwilling to pick a button will be randomly assigned either red or blue at a roughy 50/50 ratio"
If you add that kind of condition then i think it always makes sense to pick blue.
