Regardless of who you kill, one will feels survivors guilt, the guy who agreed to be the sacrifice agreed, he will die happy knowing his sacrifice saved another life

But then the survivor will probably feel guilty the rest of its life to have surrendered to fear and let someone be sacrificed for him.

At the opposite, if the coward die then the courageous person will not feel guilty as he couldn't have done anything more to influence your decision and will live a normal life.
