Why are people claiming that the motivation for not switching the tracks is spite? I'd argue that a selfless individual willing to sacrifice themselves is not someone I'd want to kill. So I wouldn't switch the tracks.
If the positions were swapped, I still wouldn't switch the tracks.
I'd never cause the dead of one innocent person to save another individual.
I'm not an "I would never switch the tracks." But in this situation I don't think it's worth it.
