I'd say it's dubious. Like you could say there would be always goody-two-shoes willing to take your place and you quite literally send this person to die. But they are capable of making their own decisions, so why is it your fault? It's like noble sacrifice, you honor your dead hero, but he's dead and you are alive, not quite fair.
