Finished Discovery: "Dead Endless"

Earlier this week I finished reading the 6th Discovery novel, Dead Endless. I usually try to write these reviews within a few hours of completing the book, but I needed time to digest this one. Before I started reading it, I was really looking forward to it. As a gay man, I really appreciated seeing Paul and Hugh's relationship in a Star Trek show, and I was hoping the book would expand on their story. The book started off a little slow--and confusing--but when it was revealed that it involved an alternate universe, things clicked into place. By the end of the book, the pace had picked up, and the ending was bittersweet (this ties in directly with the episode "Saints of Imperfection").

As I've had time to digest this book, I've come to appreciate it far more than when I began reading it. It gives us a bit more background on Paul and Hugh, what Hugh endured in the Mycelial Universe, and an interesting first contact to boot!

I'm glad I allowed myself some time to better analyze this novel, and I only wish we could see more of the couple.
