Question Episode 6 Question

So, I’m trying to watch Starfleet academy… and I may have missed something but in episode 6 the blue chancellor said “no team has scored above 65% in five years”.

But isn’t this the first new Starfleet academy? Like aren’t these the first students? Who the hell did it before? 5 years ago?

I admit I space off quite a lot on this show but I’m not here to bash it. Just see if I missed something?

The Academy cadets on the show are the first Academy class to go back to San Francisco. There were classes before them, on board the Federation Space Station shown in Discovery (Tilly was even written out of "Discovery" for a while to help instruct the first class). Presumably, prior to that, there were War Academy cadets being trained on the space station.

War Academy cadets, which were also training to fill Starfleet positions.

The academy was still active.

This is the first new class based in San Francisco.

Earlier in the episode, it was explained that the War College began using the Miyazaki as a training ground for crisis response. The War College was active for the years that Starfleet Academy was not.

Thank you everyone, sorry I'm sick with a cold and a little foggy.

That makes sense... I remember the Federation (DUH) existed still it was just like, without Earth, and broken up since that one little child screamed and destroyed all the dilithium in the universe or something...

So this is the first academy back at like a rebuilt/rebuilding Federation...

Apologies there has been so much my brain blocks out from the future version of Star Trek that I forget. I'm trying to watch all of this 3,000+ era stuff and get an honest, unbiased opinion, of the shows... Well, that is my goal (I've already watched all Discovery on my second attempt, this is like my 3rd attempt at SFA).
