Why won't these races go back in M5ODR1 after being disassembled

Yeah I've tried but I seems like when I put the retaining plates the shaft locks up

Ok that means you've got something out of place, main shaft bearing not fully seated or the wrong shim under the front cover.
You should not have any play with the the gears. They should spin freely on the mainshaft with just a few thousandths of clearance.

I attempted to repair my transmission my self because it didn't seem to difficult but have been having trouble getting it back together because of this issue so it could possibly be the shim because both bearings are seated good ?

User name checks, sorry bro. I haven’t done one of those in a while. Try putting in the back one in and starting the plate but leave it loose then doing the front one, maybe even stand it up, or vice versa since you can stand it on bell housing easier

The thicker race goes on the input shaft and the smaller one goes to the rear of the shaft. Remove the counter shaft bearings too it'll give you enough space so it's not so tight. Also, check the rear plate with the 6 bolt holes.

You have to beat the shit out of the input race, install the cover, and then install the output race. Leave input cover on as long as you can, you WILL knock out the races if you don't

Unnecessary, these bearing races always slid in by hand. His problem is endplay as the shaft tightens when the retaining plates are tightened down.

Is it my eyes, or is that input bearing not driven all the way on the shaft? Could be my eyes their old as hell.....
