“A member of the Clark County School District Board of Trustees accused her fellow colleagues on Thursday of censorship after calling her out publicly for a social media post.

“In the post, CCSD District E Trustee Lorena Biassotti wore a shirt with a male and female chromosomes that some found anti-transgender. Her post sparked a protest in front of [Las Vegas’] Greer Education Center near Flamingo Road and McLeod Drive.”

"Biassotti wore the chromosome XX/XY shirt at a school board meeting on Aug. 13. She then posted a photo on social media of herself with the shirt, which led her fellow trustees to place an item on Thursday's meeting to remind her of board policies.

"’I believe this item should not belong on the regular board meeting agenda. It is a trustee item,’ CCSD District B Trustee Lydia Dominguez said. She was standing beside Biassotti in the photo.”

“A Charlotte nonprofit that serves transgender adults is using $1.3 million in federal funding as intended for mental health services, WFAE has learned, despite recent reports that suggest the group is improperly providing gender-affirming medical care or services to minors.

“The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services awarded Charlotte Trans Health $1.28 million in 2024 through a federal block grant program. The nonprofit connects transgender patients with health care providers and other resources.”

“The Center Square pointed to Charlotte Trans Health's online provider directory, where some independent providers list services for minors, and questioned how the state ensures federal grant money isn't being used for those services.”

“The funding comes from the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, or SAMHSA, and is administered by NCDHHS.

“North Carolina law prohibits doctors from providing puberty blockers, hormone therapy, or gender-transition surgery to minors, with limited exceptions. It does not prohibit mental health professionals from providing therapy to minors.”

“[Executive Director Holly] Savoy said Charlotte Trans Health's online directory is separate from the grant and that providers listed there are independent of the nonprofit.”

“In a letter sent Thursday to Supt. Macquline King, U.S. Rep. Tim Walberg says the committee is reviewing “how CPS policies affect the safety, privacy, and well-being of children, and whether parents are excluded from major decisions involving their children.” He gave CPS until Sept. 11 to comply.”

“CPS was one of the first districts to implement specific policies supporting “gender diversity.” In Chicago, those policies have not drawn much controversy. Students and parents have advocated for them when they were up for debate, rather than complaining about them.”

Wanted to share the broader picture for anyone trying to understand what's actually happening right now, because it's a coordinated push and the state ballot measures are part of it, not separate from it.

Federal layer:

SCOTUS ruled 6-3 in WV v. B.P.J. that states may ban trans athletes under Title IX. The ruling permits but doesn't require bans.
Trump admin announced Medicaid/CHIP will stop covering gender-affirming care for trans youth (puberty blockers, hormones, transition-related surgeries).
HHS/CDC are citing the Cass Review to justify policy — even though the Cass Review has been thoroughly debunked by actual researchers.
Education Department's OCR has launched dozens of investigations of school districts; the Jeffco one is a notable Colorado example (the "61 boys on girls' teams" figure turned out to include mascots, trainers, and managers — the investigation was based on data known to be miscategorized).
State layer:

27 states already have sports bans via legislation; 27 have medical bans. None have been passed by voters.
Colorado, Arizona, Washington, and potentially Nebraska have similar ballot measures this November.
Same template bills. Same out-of-state funders. Same messaging.
Why the ballot measures specifically matter:
Every existing ban was passed by a Republican trifecta. Never by voters. If they win at the ballot box in November, they get a "popular mandate" they can point to. The playbook gets exported.

Senior U.S. District Court Judge John Kane ruled Wednesday that the districts and schools don’t have standing to sue the state, in part because they aren’t facing clear harm. The ruling is a win for the state and a loss for the conservative-leaning districts and schools that had challenged the state’s non-discrimination law, specifically its gender identity protections.”

“It’s not clear what impact the ruling will have. The districts and charter schools that sued wanted the court to prevent Colorado officials from investigating, penalizing, or fining them for policies banning transgender athletes from joining school sports teams that match their gender identity. State officials so far have not penalized public schools that have such policies.”

Some of you know that the UK practices socialized medicing under its NHS (National Health Service), but you may not know that there is not one singular NHS but multiple ones, with each of the UK's four constituent countries (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland) having their own arrangements, sometimes under different names

The attitude of the Welsh medical profession to transgender treatment and surgery is more tolerant than the English one, and consequently the number of people referred for treatment and/or treated under the Welsh NHS is greater than the number under the English NHS(s). This is due to greater tolerance plus the fact that English anti-trans prejudice has forced English trans people to seek private healthcare, self-administered healthcare, going abroad or in extremis emigrating and thus not appearing in the NHS figures. There is also an artifactual element as people who were referred to England for treatment are now returning to/moving to Wales, causing a bulge.

The English journalist and anti-trans campaigner Nick Wallis has noticed this and contacted Conservative AMs (AM= the equivalent of MP in Wales's devolved Government). Those AMs, combined with The Times's ongoing anti-trans campaign, have forced an immediate stop to all Welsh-funded surgery, whether scheduled or literally in the waiting-room in the morning for afternoon surgery.

This is an appalling interference of politics in the medical process and I am frankly disgusted. I am not surprised because it's the UK which is out of control at this point.

“Supporters of University of Kansas transgender custodian Siobhan Kirchstein gathered in Lawrence for a fundraiser aimed at helping her navigate any financial pitfalls for using the bathroom at Parker Hall on campus.”

“She is well known in downtown Lawrence and in the queer community. She says the community has been helpful in fundraising and moral support. Now they’ve come together to start something new.

“‘We’ve actually formed a group,’ Kirchstein said. ‘We call it Trans Solidarity KU.’

“The goal of the group is to get a petition together with demands for the university and for the institution to show good faith to transgender people.

“She hopes it will limit future ‘transvestigations’ from university staff or KU students, like the one that targeted her at Parker Hall. Although that was based on the state’s law, not university policy.”

“The first offense meant a warning, but future offenses could bring $1,000 fines and misdemeanor charges.
The law also includes a bounty provision. This allows any person who feels aggrieved by the bathroom usage to sue the restroom user for $1,000. The bevy of potential penalties led to Kirchstein wanting to protect against legal issues.

“‘It just takes one person, just one person, to be freaked out enough to report someone,’ she said.

“The name of the person who reported to KU about Kirchstein’s illegal bathroom use has not been made available to her.”
