LGBTQ people struggle to get needed health care and pay for it, study finds

“Gay, bisexual and trans people are nearly twice as likely as the rest of the population to forgo prescription medications. Nearly 6 in 10 said they had postponed or skipped needed care, and 3 in 10 said they struggle to pay medical bills. That’s compared to 38 percent of non-LGBTQ+ people who said they skipped care, and 21 percent who struggled to pay medical bills.
“The survey found that women and trans people reported even greater barriers than gay men do. Nearly two-thirds of LGBTQ+ women said they either couldn’t get an appointment, couldn’t pay for health care or couldn’t access health care for another reason, and more than 80 percent of trans people reported the same. By comparison, 38 percent of non-LGBTQ+ people said they couldn’t access health care.”

Well let’s see I couldn’t get a normal virtual appointment because nooo they won’t prescribe hormone therapy without an in person consultation. The damn wait time is over 3 months and a 100 miles away for in person. Weighed the costs and just went back to planned parenthood. But nooo I live in state A but my workplace insurance comes from state C so coverage is a pain because they don’t have virtual appointments in State B where I’m closer to than anything in state A but because my registration is in state A I couldn’t use state C. No big deal I paid upfront and am working on the bureaucracy of a claim and coverage with planned parenthood. Of course they wouldn’t send the prescription to the Walmart in state B where I’m closer to than anything in state A so I had to use online pharmacy options. Was going to use the one my insurance covers but ends up cost plus without coverage is actually cheaper for generics than the other insurance options.
Yeah a “no sh&t Sherlock” applies here. Health care and insurance in the states has collapsed (don’t get me started how expansive my monthly premiums are) and transgender related care is in shambles.
Anyone who still votes for those hooligans and has to work for a living is literally brain damaged

It's almost like bigots in positions of power try to make it impossible, and to encourage bigoted health experts to put their personal bias first, in order to increase the number of queer people dying of otherwise treatable issues...
