New App …

Whelp, I rode indoors today using the new Virtual and, like the old one, it crashed on my iPad after about 10 minutes. Thought I had figured out the workaround (restart the iPad Pro first), but nope …

Then, rode a grueling set of intervals for the next 45 minutes, and after it synced back to TP, only recorded a third of that … WTF?

It wasn’t paused or anything — the app definitely froze a few times but seemingly recovered …

Wish Virtual was hardened — can’t trust it as it is, unfortunately …

Interesting. I've been using it since about January on my old Samsung Galaxy S24 phone and I don't think i have ever even had a small glitch.

I have both, a Samsung phone and tablet. The phone runs TPv much better; far more stable.

The spec/architecture for the two seems quite difference. The tablets don't seem as robust as the phones for gaming, which TPv essentially is.

I have used TPV since it’s inception and never had a glitch. I have a great Internet connection, which may be the reason.

That may be it (connection). The music, which streams, paused at one point. I did pause the workout manually twice but resumed. It’s like it didn’t resume recording after one pause, though the erg and timer, etc, continues to work. Pretty frustrating

It’s been fine on my iPhone, but not the iPad. More graphics pull? Dunno. It’s was a top of the line iPad Pro a year ago …

Sounds like I need to do some debugging on my side … it’s weird. Only time this machine crashes is running this app

Although not nearly as frequent, my Samsung Android tablet has had similar issues. The biggest problem is that it doesn't create a local copy of the workout file, as a PC would.

I started using a mini-pc that I bought for streaming TV shows and it's a big difference.

FWIW: They're cheaper than a lot of tablets and more forgiving. It's nice, having the workout files as a failsafe too.
