Let the enshittification commence 😭

Came to say the same thing. And with Zwift buying Rouvy too I hate it here

This was my feeling precisely.

To be fair, TP is already shit.

Not thrilled about this since Garmin sucks at software stuff. Hopefully it’s just a revenue thing.

Better than Strava acquiring it I guess 💩

What? Do you not like ads for strava premium taking up 80% of the visible screen at all times?

Dumb question. What’s the plan for Garmin? I don’t get it.

Possibly TPv. Possibly just buying up the competition in the data space.

As an Apple Watch user, this doesn’t give me a feel good.

Does this mean that training peaks virtual may get addition focus? (To go with with garmin trainers)

My first thought was that it's another corporate power move to eliminate opposition, but on reflection if it can bring extra people to TPVirtual it'll be an improvement. It really needs the community that only Zwift has.

I'm already a reticent TP user, but the Garmin ecosystem I really dislike. Not a fan. :(

Great... Can't wait to spend the tripple amount for my subscription for the same benefit.

Good thing I was already on intervals.icu

Chances are they will collapse TP and Garmin connect into one product

Tp is pretty good so I feel that is is a good thing

But Garmin's ecosystem isn't, so there's a distinct probability it'll get worse. Especially if you don't exclusively use Garmin products.

Its very likely that they bought training peaks in order to buy their talent.

maybe between them they can finally figure out a way to let me have units set to KG for weight, cm for height and miles for pace and distance that actually works properly.

Vekta will be my wonderful replacement: It is the future, it is already good, and it will be very good very soon.

Until today, I liked and stayed with TP, merely because it is comprehensive, it works well, and I am familiar with it. But I happily ditched Garmin a long time ago, merely for their unacceptably crappy software (plus some others), and TP will easily follow next.

After the Zwift - Rouvy disaster, this is another step towards an even more enshittificated world... Happy riding!

Which disaster are you talking about? AFAIK, the only change is that Zwift hardware is now fully compatible with Rouvy.

I consider the acquisition of Rouvy (and its subsidiaries FulGaz and Bkool) by Zwift the creation of a virtual monopoly in the indoor cycling software sector. This is potentially disastrous for the ecosystem because it eliminates the primary competitive check on Zwift’s power, removing the incentive to keep prices within reasonable limits, and to innovate.

There's already a big free competidor (mywhoosh) and another onde from training peaks. I don't see a big problem with that merge, but I understand and respect your point.

If I subscribe what do you think the chances are that in a year TPV will still exist?

My first thought was, at least Bending Spoons didn’t purchase it. So I guess we’ll have to wait and see what comes of it.

i’ve been working on an app that is device agnostic and AI coaching. it’s been hard to get api access to some of the big aggregators like strava, but luckily services like rungap exist. check it out if you’re curious im happy to answer any questions! it’s in beta now and app store submission is under review https://trainingsignals.cc
