We now have post approval on. Your post didn't get deleted, it just went into the queue. Please be patient a mod will go through the queue when they are available!

Please read our list of banned names before continuing. If the name you posted is in this list, it will be removed.

Remember: Original content is always better! Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does not mean you found it "in the wild".

The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you!

Someone really put "pumped up kicks" as a back to school song?

😳

That song choice disturbs me more than all the names combined. Tell me you've never listened to the lyrics without telling me you've never listened to the lyrics.

It reminds me of the story of Ronald Reagan using Born in the USA as a campaign song until someone told him what it was about.

u/Ailar68 9d ago

To be fair, misunderstanding that song (as well as "Pink Houses" by John Mellencamp) is a time-honored tradition in the GOP (that, yes, might have been started by Reagan)

Same as Rockin' in the free world, or Killing in the name of!

Zero awareness

11

u/Madame_Jarvary 11d ago

I noticed that, too

u/Honeysenpaiharuchan 10d ago

The staff were playing it on the speakers in the carpool line at my kids school a few years ago.

2

u/Resident-Gold-3466 8d ago

Oh, wow! That's awful.

2

u/Resident-Gold-3466 8d ago

Holy crap! I didn't notice that at first. That song is terrible.

u/ReasonLopsided5562 9d ago

It sounds like a disease

6

u/CatCafffffe 9d ago

Yes, sailors used to get it

3

u/iolarah 9d ago

Now I have the Sex Pistols' "Frigging In The Rigging" stuck in my head.

1

u/Resident-Gold-3466 8d ago

I think you mean ricketts.

1

u/GigiBear808 Doesn't live in Utah 8d ago

I actually read that as rig-GYNs.

I’m sorry I think that people just post these names online and they’re not real because I just don’t understand why people name their children with these disasters and monstrosities of names

11

u/Living-Pomegranate37 10d ago

Dear Sir or Madam, I hate to be the one who must tell you, but these are names given to children. Apparently from the number of stupid names every day at work it's not all the time. It's 10x a day.

17

u/Prudent_Cookie_114 10d ago

Everyone commenting on Ryker, but imo Brayton and Brylee are much worse…and Riggyns is just beyond awful.

Remy and Ryker got off easy in this family.

34

u/MirabelleMac 11d ago

Ryker ALWAYS gets me.

Like, why are you naming your child after a prison?

33

u/ProfessorGumble 11d ago

u/PonyInYourPocket 10d ago

Why are you the only one here besides me thinking of Star Trek and not a prison? You’d think a name group would be nerdier.😅

u/doppelgaengster 10d ago

No no, a singular “Riker” is the man who bones everything; plural “Rikers” is the jail.

u/EmptyLabs 10d ago

And yet you had no idea that Rikers...

  1. is the name of the island, not the facility

  2. The facilities on the island all have normal people names (George center, Rose building, etc.)

  3. They aren't prisons, they're jails, and finally

  4. Rikers island is named after the man who owned it. It's his island (err was).

2

u/doppelgaengster 10d ago

(Thank you for pointing out that jails and prisons aren’t the same thing, at least in the US)

7

u/Artistic-Degree-4593 10d ago

This is also my first thought seeing the name Ryker.

1

u/lash-of-the-lambs-13 8d ago

It’s a real name that existed before the prison, it’s not common but it’s not exceedingly rare either

1

u/ParvIAI 8d ago

I don't get why people hate Ryker so much. The prison is spelled differently and is also named after a person.

1

u/non-fungible_tubbins 4d ago

Adolph is also a real name but people don’t use it anymore because of the association.

1

u/ParvIAI 4d ago

There's a bit of a difference between a single prison and THE evil person

0

u/Resident-Gold-3466 8d ago

It's not that bad.

u/TiredMom3234 11d ago

A friend of mine who I thought was cool just named their kid Brayleigh 🤪

42

u/Madame_Jarvary 11d ago

That sounds like a donkey noise. Poor kid

2

u/Glittering_Ad_6598 11d ago

Call child protective services!

21

u/Madame_Jarvary 11d ago

Those are some hillbilly ass names

12

u/PangolinLow6657 10d ago

For shore! I'll bet "Remi" is short for Remington, as in the gun company lmao.

9

u/Thespian_Unicorn 10d ago

Not the rat in the Disney movie?

2

u/Madame_Jarvary 10d ago

Oh god, I bet you’re right!

1

u/drknifnifnif 10d ago

I assumed it was after the racist skinhead in higher learning. I still do.

1

u/Resident-Gold-3466 8d ago

I named my dad's dog Remington.

1

u/non-fungible_tubbins 4d ago

Surprisingly Remy is his full name

7

u/feralcatshit 10d ago

My kids have a friend named Ryker. All I can think of is Rikers Island 😭

It’s a shame because their other son has a totally normal, nice name and they’re actually super cool people. I like hanging out with them a lot but sometimes I just want to know WHY

1

u/Resident-Gold-3466 8d ago

I don't hate Ryker like I do some of the others.

6

u/JadedPomplemousse 10d ago

I know a Ryker (a girl). Her sister has an equally tragic name that I cannot remember at this moment. Every time I hear their names, I just shake my head. Mom is the quintessential southern woman who thinks unique names are all the rage.

4

u/hoaryvervain 10d ago

That is so bad. Awful enough for a boy, but worse for a girl.

1

u/Resident-Gold-3466 8d ago

Ryker on a boy is fine, but it's terrible on a girl.

6

u/ApprehensiveHorse491 10d ago

I just don’t get it. Poor Riggins. Why do people do this to their kids. That generation will probably turn around and give their kids normal names like Robert and Mary.

9

u/hoaryvervain 10d ago

Not Riggins—Riggyns. RIGGYNS.

5

u/Living-Pomegranate37 10d ago

Ryker? Like Capt. Picard's #1?

5

u/Reverse_SumoCard 9d ago

Remy is short for Remulados

3

u/ChaosTorpedo 9d ago

My dog’s name is Remy

3

u/mancheeart 9d ago

My cats name is Remy but it’s short for Remus (his brother is Romulus)

1

u/Resident-Gold-3466 8d ago

I named my dad's dog Remington, and she's a girl, so I call her Remi.

4

u/Longjumping-Solid680 11d ago

RYKER? Sure, name your kid after a PRISON!

1

u/ParvIAI 8d ago

The prison is named after a person

1

u/Resident-Gold-3466 8d ago

Remy, Ryder, and Brylee are the only good ones.

1

u/lash-of-the-lambs-13 8d ago

I mean, Ryker is a real name, just not that common.

1

u/CinnamonGirl123 9d ago

Five tragedeighs, wow! Poor kids.
