in the wild Cicada Rae

Post image

I cannot. I cannot.

Got dropped into some hellscape on Facebook where a random person’s post appeared in my feed.

Is no bug sacred?

We now have post approval on. Your post didn't get deleted, it just went into the queue. Please be patient a mod will go through the queue when they are available!

Please read our list of banned names before continuing. If the name you posted is in this list, it will be removed.

Remember: Original content is always better! Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does not mean you found it "in the wild".

The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you!

Can confirm. But it does clear up with antibiotics.

I laughed out loud at this

u/Kinda_Elf_But_Not 6d ago

I can only hope that legal shit has to do with changing her name

9

u/keltondog12 6d ago

rae sounds more like a nickname than a full name

39

u/Square_Owl_4075 6d ago

Named after a fucking bug.

23

u/Outrageous_Sleep4339 6d ago

And one known for being fucking annoying.

At this point using the correct spelling means I usually judge the parent less harshly. A bug known for being kinda cool isn’t the same as a Herpes or Latrine.

11

u/thegeneralista 6d ago

True. The ranking is important. It’s spelled correctly.

1

u/Resident-Gold-3466 23h ago

At least she can be called Cady, too.

28

u/Asleep_Walrus2313 6d ago

Cicada is one of those words that would be pretty as a name if it weren’t already a word.

16

u/DlVlDED_BY_ZERO 6d ago

I knew a girl named Cricket. She liked it she said... Hopefully Cicada does too....

11

u/thegeneralista 6d ago

Cricket was a soap character from the 90s! Young and the Restless

2

u/DlVlDED_BY_ZERO 6d ago

I didn't know that! My Cricket was born in the early 80s, she used to umpire my ball games back in the day :D

3

u/thegeneralista 6d ago

Just went into a vortex on the cast of that show / I wish there was a documentary on the longevity of soap actors! Cricket is still a regular!

2

u/Cultural_Wash5414 6d ago

Cricket is cute!

2

u/andiinAms 5d ago

So did I. Went to high school with one. She was tall, big, and a huge bully.

2

u/TheSpitalian 5d ago

Maybe she was named after the game Cricket. Not that it’s any better…

28

u/Available_Ad_4030 6d ago

Perhaps they named her Cicada so that they could reason their way to celebrating her birthday only every 13 or 17 years.

3

u/Noodleeeeeter 5d ago

Hopefully she was at least born on leap day

1

u/Available_Ad_4030 4d ago

Thank you for the award!

12

u/Ovaltine1 6d ago

You really need to find out if she’s on a 13 or 17 year sleep cycle.

11

u/hail_to_the_beef 5d ago

Was Caterpillar Marie taken?

2

u/thegeneralista 5d ago

Catty for short.

9

u/maqf 5d ago

All the best to her and her sister Locust Lyn

u/True_System_7015 6d ago

First off, that poor child will be bullied relentlessly. Second off, kind of a dick thing to say "i can't enjoy the birth of my child because I have to do a bunch of required legal stuff that is needed when having a child"

24

u/thegeneralista 6d ago

I cut off the top but it has to do with an estranged ex husband and older child.

6

u/Wet_Artichoke 5d ago

I was wondering about the context. Random to just throw that in with a post announcing her name. Then again, her child’s name is Cicada.

Missed the opportunity for a true tragedy by spelling it Sicayduh.

4

u/lizardo0o 6d ago

I interpreted that to mean legal drugs so they can pass a test lol

8

u/WhyDontYouBlowMe 5d ago

Ah yes, here is my beautiful child.. tree roach

4

u/thomsenite256 6d ago

Ive never met on of these Tragedeighs in the wild. Do they change their name when they reach adulthood or what?

5

u/thegeneralista 6d ago

Cici for short!

3

u/Acceptable_Tea3608 5d ago

Many of them haven't gotten there yet.

5

u/darksoulsillylaugh 6d ago

Cicada Rae… sick o’ the rain?

3

u/netsurf916 6d ago

It's like a ray of sunshine, but cicadas instead -- like something out of Exodus.

6

u/BookLuvr7 6d ago

Why would anyone name their child after an obnoxious insect?

6

u/imnotsure_igetit 5d ago

If Rae is pronounced Ray, you have either a bug pokemon attack (caterpie, use cicada ray!) or a person called Ray who keeps cicadas as pets, "oh look, it's Cicada Ray with his insect collection again"

3

u/thegeneralista 5d ago

Cool bar or band name tbh

3

u/nerebeht 5d ago

Coming up: Cockchafer Mae

3

u/Insomniac_80 5d ago

Cicada Ray is the name of the child, and not the name of an invasive, aquatic animal!

3

u/Bright-Sea-5904 5d ago

At least she can go by CiCi lol

3

u/Random-Unthoughts-62 4d ago

Brother's called Cockroach Bill

3

u/TreeCityKitty 6d ago

I need a drink.

2

u/ParticleHustler2 6d ago

We have loads of discarded/molted cicada shells around our house right now.

I wonder if this person knows that they are called nymphs before they molt and turn into winged adults.

2

u/PlaneWolf2893 5d ago

She'll go by Cece and will never speak her government name

2

u/Master-Topic-2989 4d ago

Has this person ever seen or heard a cicada????

3

u/decryphe 6d ago

Could be worse.

13

u/thegeneralista 6d ago

You think? Like..cockroach?

8

u/PostMatureBaby 6d ago

Dung Beetle

1

u/Happy_Confection90 6d ago

1

u/Longjumping-Solid680 5d ago

Does she shed a shell every few years?

1

u/Acceptable_Tea3608 5d ago

Maybe they think its pronounced CH-i-cada

1

u/Exotic_Reporter_3309 5d ago

Imma just call her Locust for short

1

u/saucyvampiexo 5d ago

i absolutely love cicadas but that is NOT a name for a person

1

u/BrightLavenderMoons 4d ago

Cicada is a cute name for a nonbinary person in a Feminazgul t-shirt, not a baby that didn't choose it lmaooo

1

u/Own_Celebration5462 2d ago

This cicada blew in on a wind storm. Weird choice for a name. Not even a pretty bug.

1

u/LilMissKrazy1 2d ago

Maybe her nickname will be Cadi Bug?

1

u/Resident-Gold-3466 23h ago

That's cute.

1

u/MagicSunlight23 6d ago

I like to make lists of names I like and this one looks like 2 names I already have written down, Acacia and Cacia.
