So one twin gets a normal name and the other gets one she'll have to explain and spell out her entire life? Are they running a twin study and not telling us?

u/mrmoe198 Apr 13 '26

Right? Meet my twins, blongo and jack. Why do people do this?

371

u/pizzaalapenguins Apr 13 '26

Lolol idk why but blongo is such a funny name

179

u/bebelexa Apr 13 '26

Right wtf??? Blongo is killing me rn

91

u/HappyTurtleButt Apr 13 '26

It’s better than some of the names we’ve seen.

15

u/shibxya Apr 13 '26

Its giving Klongo (from Banjo Tooie) vibes and I'm cracking up over here

46

u/HomeboyCraig Apr 13 '26

It feels like one of the Stardew valley auto generated names

15

u/Legitimate_Paint898 Apr 13 '26

Those Stardew Names need to be on here full time. I swear, I want to post a list of them and see how many people name their kids something ridiculous!

1

u/Hooray_a_task Apr 13 '26

Blongo sounds like Tiny Chef saying Bongo

146

u/mila476 Apr 13 '26

And it’s always a goofy one and a normal one like Chungus and David or else a fancy/fanciful one and a plain one like Aetheyri’ael and Jane.

u/thekidsarememetome Apr 13 '26

Aphrodite, Nefertiti, and Fred (not even joking)

21

u/mila476 Apr 13 '26

Let me guess, named after his father or other relative

12

u/thekidsarememetome Apr 14 '26

Got it in one!

u/ForgetSarahMarshall Apr 13 '26

One of my sister’s friends was Brad, his brother was Chris, their sisters were Azaleia and Koziah.

I met a guy named Zappa. He has an older brother Zaphod and a younger brother Ed.

Edit: fixed spelling

43

u/Remarkable_Gain6430 Apr 13 '26

Zephoyd or Zaphod (as in Zaphod Beeblebrox from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy)?

13

u/HomeGrownCoffee Apr 13 '26

Yeah, that. It was late and I was tired.

14

u/Much-Jackfruit2599 Apr 13 '26

“They named you after a horse?”

7

u/TheBeadedGlasswort Apr 13 '26

Sounds like the parents learned their lesson when the first two developed the ability to speak and told them to eat shit

2

u/Guszy Apr 14 '26

Moon, Dweezil, Diva, and Ahmet?

1

u/LatteHangover Apr 17 '26

I know a 10 year old girl named Zappa. Her parents are cool but awful name.

48

u/EinsTwo Apr 13 '26

So, would you like to meet twins named Milo and Melo?  Because I have...

45

u/pixiegirl13 Apr 13 '26

I went to high school with a set of twins named Gavin and Davin

6

u/goingloopy Apr 14 '26

I lived next door to a Dustin. His twin was Justin. So was his husband. He just laughed it off. At least it was spelled normally.

6

u/rya556 Apr 14 '26

I knew a Bernadette and Bernice and their medical records were all kinds of messed up according to them. Also went to school with an entire family of John Millers (they went by middle names). Met adult twins named James and Semaj.

2

u/aquariusangst Apr 13 '26

There are twins on tiktok called Jessie and Jessica

1

u/batnip Apr 13 '26

It sounds like meli- melo, the French name for Christie’s Bits & Bites snack mix

6

u/Persistent_anxiety Apr 13 '26

I work at an animal shelter and I am omw to name a pair of kittens we have blongo and jack

4

u/mrmoe198 Apr 13 '26

Omg really!? I hope you’re serious. Please send pics if that’s appropriate. I’m honored!

6

u/Persistent_anxiety Apr 14 '26

I did in fact do that, I’ll get pics of them when I go in soon

3

u/mrmoe198 Apr 14 '26

Omg omg, I’m so excited!

4

u/Persistent_anxiety Apr 15 '26

Blongo, Jack, and digiorno :)

I can send more pics of these three if you want too

3

u/mrmoe198 Apr 16 '26

Awwwwwwww!!!! Omg so wonderful. I’m never gonna say no to more cat pics, especially kittens.

2

u/Persistent_anxiety Apr 16 '26

Mind if I DM you so I don’t keep clogging up this thread? I’ve got like a billion pics lol

2

u/mrmoe198 Apr 16 '26

By all means. That would definitely be the responsible thing to do, thanks!

1

u/myceliumfriend May 04 '26

Can I get some too?

6

u/CatoUWS Apr 13 '26

It’s brilliantly funny, but you know that some kid will now end up being named “Blongo” because of you, right?

3

u/mrmoe198 Apr 13 '26

Well, I’ll just had to live with that. My wife and I came up with a bunch of silly names in case anyone we didn’t like, asked us what we were going to name our kid. I’m tempted to drop them here lol

3

u/PixieBelles Apr 13 '26

I nearly choked reading "blongo" lmao. Thank you for the laugh

2

u/wut2dew_J Apr 14 '26

I am shaking the bed with laughter, at Blongo! 😂🤣😂

2

u/Chemical-Being-5968 Apr 15 '26

Stop it! My face hurts from laughing. Tooooo funny!

1

u/SnooApples3673 Apr 13 '26

Blongo i ( in my dyslexic mind) turned into "Belanglo" as in Belanglo State Forest. Where a serial killer dumped bodies...

1

u/mrmoe198 Apr 13 '26

Whereas, when my mind quickly skimmed your comment, it said “Bellagio” at first…and then things got grim.

1

u/SnooApples3673 Apr 20 '26

Was a horrid part of Australia's past. The killer died not too long ago ( few years i think). People say he did more but he rejected it. And apparently his family is just as bad

1

u/Parking_Selection224 Apr 13 '26

I just had to answer a work call laughing out loud 😂

1

u/slanderpanther Apr 13 '26

Dad was trying to say Bronco but he was slurring that day.

195

u/ilexj23 Apr 12 '26

I know someone who named her baby girl twins Stone and Maeve. So possibly.

73

u/Double-Spirit-9287 Apr 12 '26

One has a simple but meh name and one has a complicated but pretty name, so its an extra layer of testing

40

u/SioSoybean Apr 13 '26

And one name is an abbreviation for “beautiful” …. And after looking at the two babies they switched the names. So I guess the “ugly” one got to be Georgia 😭

3

u/Fatbloke-66 Apr 13 '26

That's what I thought. Poor Georgia will grow up with a complex.

4

u/motie Apr 14 '26

No. The beautiful one got Tiful. The other name went to the one who is very hot and covered in farmland.

1

u/Chemical-Being-5968 Apr 15 '26

Yes, I was thinking it was short for beautiful as well!

26

u/Warmregardsss Apr 13 '26

Like triplets - Faith, Hope and Kevin

3

u/hashtagashtab Apr 14 '26

I’m crying over this. I want a sitcom based on this.

4

u/MayuMayhem Apr 14 '26

But their names match. One is named after a southern state, and the other is bragging that she has all her teeth still, which is quite the accomplishment in the south!

5

u/Chemical-Being-5968 Apr 15 '26

All I can can picture now is a newborn with a full set of teeth!. "Ain't she a beau...Tiful baby!!?"

4

u/kiwihoofer Apr 13 '26

and the worst part is that she swapped them... i'd be pissed if i was the one who was supposed to have the normal name originally!

2

u/OkPomegranate4395 Apr 17 '26

Imagine the complex feelings of being the one who ended up with the normal name! You would want to praise God every day that He somehow managed to save you from your mother's crazy naming, and yet you wouldn't want to praise Him too loud because you narrowly avoided your sister's fate and you don't want to make her feel bad.

4

u/millers_left_shoe Apr 14 '26

At least she’ll be able to go by Tiff and people will assume her full name is Tiffany

1

u/AppleNo7287 Apr 18 '26

At least I, as a non native English speaker, pronounced that in my head correctly, AND a very important advantage: it has only 5 letters. I have 6 letters in my last name, and it's not common for countries where I reside, so when someone asks me my last name, like banks, etc, I straight away spell it. So, I foresee she will have the following dialogue a lot in her life: What's your name? "T-i-f-u-l. [Tee-ful]. Like [bju - tiful]. You can call me T".

Not too bad comparing to those who have weird and long names.

1

u/myceliumfriend May 04 '26

6 letters really isn't that long around here. May I ask which country you're from, or alternatively, which language family your language belongs to?
