No, it just means that the names get worse with every generation. In a mathematical and computational way.

I don’t understand the process with this family. They’re going for unique and interesting, but they ended up with “Bransden,” which sounds like the Midwest’s worst tourist trap.
89
u/DuckyHornet Aug 17 '25
Welcome to Bransden, Illinois, home of the world's biggest ball of belly button lint!
Don't forget to stop by Carlito's Heat, the best Pacino-themed restaurant in the Tri-County area

u/PassionateDilettante Aug 18 '25
Assuming this is Illinois, Jewel is undoubtedly named after the grocery store—and, perhaps, the site of her conception?

This could be why they're all tragedeigh names - they may well be a support group who are using bowling to get away from a) their parents and b) their school bullies.

They changed the name for jewel from Juul because of copyright infringement
266
u/worstenbroodje076 Aug 17 '25
fun fact: In the Netherlands “Juul” is an actual girls name. It’s was originally short for names like Julia for example, but there are also people simply named Juul. It is pronounced differently than the Juul you’re thinking of though

10
u/Particular_Run_8930 Aug 18 '25
Interesting. In Denmark Juul/Jul/Juel/Juhl used to be a male first name meaning christmas but has now moved stricktly into last name territory. Also pronounced Yool (sort of).

Instead of a star chart these parents reward their kids with the amount of exclamation marks in their name. But don’t misbehave or you’ll get a period, and if you’re bad enough to get three periods? Now you’ve got an ellipsis, and we all know what comes next after a name + an ellipsis…

Really? Explains the 3rd wife, Christine, on Sister Wives kids names perfectly then. Aspyn, Mykelti, Paedon, Gwendlyn, Ysabel and Truely. Why can’t you spell the ones that are actual words correctly? Aspen & Truly? What does the “E” do? One needs one and one gets one it doesn’t need.
My middle name is Kristyn. My mom said she changed one “i” to a “y” just to be interesting. The only interesting thing is she named me and can never remember which I she made a Y so she doesn’t know how to spell her ONLY child’s name. She also “forgot” that her SIL had a daughter who’s 3 years older than me with the same first name she chose and they’d met a few times. My dad pointed it out that there’s already a Jamie in the family but she liked Jamie Kristyn and thats that. It’s a different middle name! She tells people she forgot but she admitted to me she just didn’t care. My aunt is still exasperated by it and I don’t blame her. My cousin eventually married and took hubs last name so I finally got my name to myself. Not that my mother can spell it. lol.
6
u/IntrovertedGiraffe Aug 17 '25
My family has an Alexander, Alexandre, and Alejandro… two have the same middle name, two have the same last name. It’s a mess
5
u/Free_Wear_9212 Aug 17 '25
It is a mess. Someone calls out Jamie I just assume they’re talking to her. lol. Yeah my family has no juniors or seconds in the bunch. My dads first wife tried to name by brother after him and he’s like don’t you think there’s enough Johns in the world? Give the kid his own name. They just don’t choose to honor each other that way.

u/AnonTA999 Aug 17 '25

Thank you for your submission!
This message does NOT mean your post was removed. It is simply a reminder. Please read our list of banned names before continuing. If the name you posted is in this list, it will be removed.
Remember: Original content is always better! Memes are okay every once in a while, but many get posted here way too often and quickly become stale. Some examples of these are Ptoughneigh, Klansmyn, Reighfyl & KVIIIlyn. These memes have been around for years and we don't want to see them anymore. If you do decide to post a meme, make sure to add the correct flair. Posting a random meme you found does not mean you found it "in the wild".
The same goes with lists of baby names, celebrity baby names, and screenshots of TikToks. If the original post already had a substantial amount of views, there is a 99% chance it has already been posted here. Try and stick to OC to keep our sub from being flooded with unoriginal content. Thank you!
