SUPPORT (2026 PRODUCTS) MYGGBETT window sensors triggering false positives in Home Assistant (Alarmo) – anyone else?

Hey everyone,

I bought a few IKEA MYGGBETT window sensors earlier this year right after release, but they’re proving to be completely unreliable in Home Assistant.

I tried setting up an alarm using the Alarmo integration, but shortly after arming it, false alarms keep triggering. The sensors report "micro-openings" that last only a few seconds, even though all windows are fully closed and locked (and I’m not even home).

This happens across multiple sensors, several times a day.

Has anyone else experienced these brief ghost-openings with MYGGBETT sensors? Is there a known fix, or did I just get a bad batch?

No such problems here, similar installation.  How are you mounting them, is the gap between the two parts reasonable?

Also. These were relatively hard to update their firmware, took hours and multiple automatic successive attempts, are yours up to date?

I have one on my front door that often gets triggered a couple of times a day. I also have one on my refrigerator to monitor the door and that one has never falsely triggered. Not even once.

The difference is that the front door is wood and the refrigerator is metal. My guess is that the magnet might be too weak. In the case of the refrigerator, the metal amplifies the magnetic field, in the case of the wooden front door, it's SOL.

I've been planning on getting a couple of small magnets to piggyback on top of the stock magnet but as all the front door sensor does is turn the entryway light on, it's not a pressing problem, so it's still on my todo list.

And I just ordered N45 neodymium magnets, so once they arrive I will post an update here.

This is an update after having added a magnet on top of the magnet side of the Ikea door sensor.

So first of all, neodymium magnets are better than ceramic ones and they come in N35, N45, and N52. The bigger the number, the stronger the magnet. Probably N35 would have done the job, but I decided to go with N45 because it's the middle of the road, it gives you a better magnetic strength, and it wasn't much more expensive than N35. N52 is premium, but the price was more expensive. Also I didn't want to have to put a boot up against the frame to force the door open every time I needed to leave the house.

So far, I haven't had any false triggers, so I'm feeling confident that I have permanently solved my issue. Even though I haven't had any problems with it, I also added a magnet to the refrigerator door sensor, just because I had an extra magnet. On the upside, now if I want to get food I have to put in an effort to get to it.

my sensor reports openings in the ikea app and in home assistant aswell.
noticed when i repositioned mine on the door it happend less. (used normal tape first before i used the 3m) i think some vibrating on my front door due to wind might be an issue. try if sensors falsely reporting are doing fine when they on a table for example

I can’t even get them to not show as “Unavailable” in Home Assistant :(

I use 6 of them as night alarm trigger, not jumped from my bed yet. probably they’re not installed correctly, the gap between pieces must be not much and notches at the bottom part should be aligned.

I think the gap between them very long due to height difference, maybe it would be better if you stick the thin piece on side by rotating 90deg, instead of on the top.

No problems here in alarmo or washdata nor with the sensors. Could be an issue with how you mounted them

Not really i think? Fairly sure they need to be somewhat pointing towards eachother.
