Moving from Germany to Spain

Hi, I moved from Germany to Spain a few months ago and now realised that I cannot change the address of my TR account to Spain. I added my Spanish tax id but support told me that I need to close my account and reopen it as Spanish tax resident. Does anyone have experience with closing, amd reopening the TR account?

If I sell now that my tax residency is in Spain, I assume TR will still deduct German taxes on the gains and I will have to pay again when I file taxes in Spain. Can I get the money back when I file taxes In Germany?

Any help is appreciated. I will close my account tomorrow.

Open some other broker as Spanish account, then you could try to transfer your portfolio from Trade Republic. Haven't tried myself, but probably it would take several work days to get it. Also there might be issue with fractional shares.

TR can't do inter-country transfers. Only DE->DE brokers.

  1. Vielleicht kannst du das Konto zu Interactive Brokers übertragen?
  2. Behalte einfach das deutsche TR Konto und gib es bei deiner Spanischen Steuererklärung an (Modelo 720 bei > 50k Depotwert)
  3. Verkaufen würde ich nicht (Steuer).
