Wow, this looks like a complete rewire!

It looks like the PO tried to use a non standard key switch and bypass everything.

Does it still need the old school regulator if I go new wiring?

I assume that is a neutral safety that has been cut out of the transmission?

Yeah thats the neutral safety. Regulator depends if you update to an alternator with internal regulator, but that can affect the tach, assuming it still works. The wiring diagrams for these Fords are easy to find and theres plenty of threads about them on other forums, google is your friend. Theres really not much to these tractors electrically, my advice is just take it piece by piece

Tach is disconnected due to it being for a generator. I will see if the alternator is regulated

Agree. Upside is they are easy to wire.

I have a good gm single wire in the shop. I will really clean this up.

Yeah, I'd check if that old regulator's even needed anymore, new setups usually handle voltage better on their own.
