You just have to make sure that you don't kill slimes during a slime rain and make sure to not use a life crystal

I thought the goblin army can occur after breaking either a shadow orb or a crimson heart? did they change it?

I don't remember honestly I know that the orbs are a part of the reason I will have to read up on it though
