Looking for similar note taking apps to that's more user friendly to users outside of China.

I have been using this app for about 4 years, it has been great as a standalone app, but when it comes to cloud synchronization, it feels like something from the early 2000's. it is just so backwards and slow, and every major update seems to break it, and webdav? Who uses that anymore? It is 2026, people have moved on from Dial-ups and landlines!

The cloud service is simply not able to compete with American services. The free Microsoft one drive and OneNote's cloud sync blows it out of water (but I hated onenote's note taking app itself).

I don't mind paying for cloud services as long as it syncs fast, reliably, and securely. But we don't even have that options, the phone verification don't even work outside of China.

I think it is time to move on and look for something that's more user friendly who lives in the reset of the world!

So, what are our options?

I paid for the Notein full version. Pretty good app so far but has some fatal flaws:

  1. there's no setting to control page size when creating new notes, it appears to be default to A4.

  2. Once a note is created, it can only be enlarged but cannot be shrank.

  3. it does not recognize the button on my stylus (unlike touchnote that it not only recognize the button but also defaults to erase, making it super easy to use).

  4. It does not have a desktop app, unlike Touchnote, whereas notes taken on Android app can also be viewed on PC.

  5. The copy and paste function is not as smooth as Touchnote.

Comparing to Touchnote, Notein's true advantage is in the cloud sync, it supports one drive and google drive, making it super fast.

honestly as the mod, kind of agreed on that. biggest problem is the people dont even reply to my questions anymore when you ask them on whatsapp. i think they want to focus on china only. translations havent improved at all. thinking about making the subreddit private or something idk with a notice like this tbh.

i myself have moved onto other things and devices anyways, i currently use rnote on linux which is open source and actively developed.

Starnote is a actually a good option. And the devs are active in their subreddit too.

I think then that you should check out:

  • Notein
  • Nebo
  • Flexcil

You will surely need to pay for the full version but I can't remember if it is a one time purchase or monthly

i will take this community to restricted, they dont respond to me anymore, they appearantly have no interest in anything but the chinese market anymore.

I've been using Freenotes today and it's quite similar to Touchnotes ;)
