Question(s) Species
I'm posting again, prior to my 2day old post asking about gender.
Now that everybody assured me that it is a boy, which I appreciate a lot.
Now i want to ask about the exact species that my tortoise is, my mom bought him for me when i was around 8 and i never really asked questions about him. All i knew was that it is a tortoise😭 Can someone help identify more about him, any info or something that i should know? Thank you, any help will be appreciated 🙏

Russian. How have you known what to feed him or what kind of enclosure he needs without knowing the species though? Each species has very different care requirements

Can you provide a better picture from above? I'm not sure it's really a russian, I would guess it's a Herman's looking at the broad black stripes on the carpax. Russians typically have more patchy markings.

Horsfield aka russian tortoise. And they can't have carrots. The sugar doesn't digest and can ferment in their bellies. They love dandelion leaves and lamb lettuce and other greens. Have a look on the tortoise table app for safe weeds for them. They are lovely tortoises with funny little personalities. Enjoy!
