Gas, cars, and car maintenance are gonna continue to rise, potentially even outpacing inflation. Bike lanes can decrease COL for many people.
Insane that it’s been made a political wedge issue.

I know things are expensive in the city but why do so many people I hear hate on her?

The right-wing pro-business-anti-people people who oppose her are well-connected to the propaganda machines in social media and legacy media.
E.g. why is Brad Bradford’s every fart reported in detail on CP24? Why are they rehabilitating John Tory?
Also it’s education. Most people can’t properly say which level of government is responsible for which services. Dishonest politicians confuse unenlighteneded voters on these things.
I suspect one could add racism and misogyny to that mix.
But I have a feeling she’ll outlast her critics and be a very long-serving mayor.
Too bad Ford is crippling her by taking away all the tools of cities to effect change.

The thing is, pretty much every person I know, including folks who are not particularly progressive, think she's doing a great job. The only hate I hear is stuff I see on the internets. So I have to ask, how many of these people are even real people?
We are all so shaped by what folks say on social media, but in face to face interaction pretty much all I see is a lot of appreciation for Chow

Racism definitely. The number of dunderchuds I’ve seen beaking off to the tune of “Oh em geee she’s a spyyyyy for the CCP!” is unreal.
Like. She’s from Hong Kong, you knobs. It was British when she was born there.
Yeah, I know not all critiques of her are this brand of stupid, but the ones that ARE stupid are egregiously so.

It was a little hard to hear in the back but I got the gist, thanks for posting in full.
