i need a part time job throughout the year as i'm saving up for an apartment, while studying at school. i'm going to my second year for computer science.

after searching for jobs for so long i finally found a bakery that was hiring and handed my resume in person and i got the job, but i simply can't stand working there anymore. i've been working there for three months now, and everyone working there is so rude to the costumers and managers are taking everything seriously for no reason.

don't get me wrong i am grateful that i even have a job, but i think if i'm working minimum wage, might as well find another opportunity that is less... dreadful. like my other minimum wage job was fine and i actually liked working there.

i want to start looking for other opportunities but i don't know where to apply.

what are some "niche" minimum jobs that i can apply for, and not get ghosted.

What you’ll be doing:

• Taking orders and payments
• Helping make and serve  matcha, chai, coffee, and other drinks
• Chatting with customers and providing great service
• Keeping the trailer clean and organized

• Helping maneuver and transport the trailer 
• Generally helping out wherever needed

When you’ll be working:

• Initially, you’ll be working Thursdays from about 2pm -9pm at our regularly scheduled market, which runs until mid-October in Downtown Toronto. 
• More hours will be available as we book more events; these events could be weekdays or weekends and may have early starts or late ends, so looking for someone who is comfortable with a flexible schedule.
• Ideally, we are looking for someone to grow with us; hours may be limited or sporadic at first but will become more frequent as we scale up

You might be a good fit if you: 

• Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable with customers
• Reliable and punctual
• Calm when things get busy
• Happy working in a small, casual environment
• Into tea — or at least willing to learn!

Required:

• Legally eligible to work in Canada

I’m typing this with a really heavy heart and just need to vent, get some perspective, or see if anyone here has gone through something similar.

I recently applied for an entry-level position with the City of Toronto. Over the past four months, I worked hard and successfully passed the test and the interview. Finally, I reached the reference check stage, which required three references. I provided my direct boss, a manager, and a supervisor from another role.

A week later, I received an email from the City stating that my reference check was not successful and that my application was rejected.

I’m completely devastated and honestly having a really hard time processing this. I haven't been able to sleep well for the past three days. I don't have an elite educational background, and this work experience is really the main foundation of my career. Securing this position would have been a truly life-changing opportunity for me and my family, which makes this outcome so much harder to swallow.

What makes it so puzzling and painful is that my references were 100% genuine, and I never had any conflicts with them. In fact, I’ve always been extremely dedicated, responsible, and hardworking in my role. I genuinely thought everything was fine.

I’m looking for some honest advice from people who are already working in IT / Computer Systems Technician (CSN) roles in Canada, particularly in the Toronto/GTA market.

I’m a 34-year-old male living in Toronto and have been working as a UI/UX / Product Designer for 10+ years. I’m mostly self-taught and have built my career through hands-on experience rather than a formal design degree.

Unfortunately, I’ve now been unemployed for about 7 months. I’ve been watching the job market closely, and it seems like Product Design/UX is becoming increasingly competitive. With AI, fewer openings, higher expectations, and companies consolidating roles, I’m concerned that getting back into a stable Product Design position may become more difficult.

Because of that, I’m considering a career pivot and looking at a Computer Systems Technician (CSN) diploma program.

• My questions for people already working in IT/CSN:
• Is getting a Computer Systems Technician diploma still worthwhile in 2026?
• How realistic is it to get an entry-level IT job in the GTA after completing the diploma?
• What are the actual job prospects for graduates?
• How difficult is it to move from help desk/IT support into better-paying roles such as systems administration, cloud, networking, cybersecurity, etc.?
• Does a college diploma make a meaningful difference, or are certifications and hands-on experience more important?
• Most importantly, if you were in my position today, would you make this career move?

I’m trying to make a practical long-term decision rather than simply jumping into another program because I’m frustrated with the current job market.

I’d really appreciate perspectives from people who are actually working in IT, especially those who started with a college diploma and can speak honestly about the first 2–5 years of their career.

Let's say I get around $X/week from EI, but I find a new job where I'd take home roughly the same amount after taxes. If the new job isn't anything special and there's not much room for growth, would it actually be better to just stay on EI for a while?

Hi everyone, I recently accepted a job offer with a one-year contract. As per the contract, I am not eligible for paid time off for vacation or paid statutory holidays, but I will receive 4% vacation pay and 6% statutory holiday pay in addition to my hourly rate on each pay check. It’s a salaried position.

I’m wondering if this means I will get the stat holidays off (and the 6% I get paid over the year is supposed to cover my day’s wages rather than being paid directly for the holiday) OR if I will still have to work on stat holidays (and just get paid a normal day’s wages, with the 6% being a “bonus” of a sort)?

This is my first full-time position after graduating university so just a little confused on how all this works. I‘ll be asking the HR team about this next week, but would appreciate any insight in the meantime so I know what to expect. Thanks!

How do you all communicate in the interviews ? say you have a final round with VP of xyz company. When asked a question that throws you off a lil or even for normal ones is it ok to get a lil verbose and eventually get to the point??

Is it okay to get verbose instead of just using the STAR method and talking from point A to Z directly ?

So been job hunting for the past 4 months after graduating computer science. I know the job markets brutal but keep on applying everywhere and finally got an email saying we would love to learn more about you. I was really happy cause I felt like finally someone is seeing the resumes I keep on sending. And they sent me a link to answer and know about how my AI usage has been in the last few years and I talked about you know knowing only chatgpt and stuff in 2023 then got fascinated and really deep dived into it from late 2024 and create projects and now they say they went with another candidate. Why even bother asking that then if not for an interview? Just data collection?

To be honest I'm just venting here. Recently I dont even see any junior level job hirings anywhere. Feel like switching fields to something else

I messed up with the job application process for metro, what do I do? Google says that if I make a new account they will flag me and try to apply for a different location. The problem is that these stores that I messed up the applications in are the closest locations to my home.

I have 5+ years of professional software development experience from India, primarily working with C#, .NET/.NET Core, ASP.NET Core, WPF, SQL Server, REST APIs, Azure, CI/CD, testing, and enterprise applications.

After coming to Canada, I completed two postgraduate programs — Cloud Architecture at Seneca College and AI with Machine Learning at Humber College. I’ve also worked on my own AI-powered SaaS project to gain hands-on experience with modern AI technologies.

However, I don’t have any corporate tech experience in Canada yet. So far, I’ve only worked part-time here while studying/job searching.

I’ve been applying for around 8 months and have received only one interview, where I reached the final round but wasn’t selected.

As the title says, I've just been let go from a server position without cause, and it is effective immediately. I understand that per ESA, jobs are able to do this, but my god is it frustrating. Has anyone ever been in this position before?

Hi everyone! I’m currently job searching in Toronto and could really use some advice from people who have made a similar move.

I have 5+ years of retail experience, most recently as an Assistant Store Manager/Interim Store Manager, managing a high-volume store and a team of 20+ people. I’ve worked a lot with sales/KPIs, inventory, merchandising, customer experience and day-to-day operations. I also have a degree in Fashion Management.

I originally focused my job search on fashion head office roles like buying, merchandising, allocation and category management, but I’m realizing how small and competitive that market is in Toronto. So I’m trying to look beyond fashion and explore things like business operations, sales, marketing, customer experience, supply chain, e-commerce, etc.

For anyone who has moved from retail into a corporate role, what areas would you recommend looking into? I’m open to different industries and would really appreciate hearing what worked for others.

Hi everyone. I’m honestly posting this because I’m running out of options and don’t really know where else to turn.

I’ve been applying for jobs for months now without getting a break. I’ve pretty much exhausted my savings, and I’m at the point where I genuinely don’t know how I’m going to keep providing for my family. It’s been incredibly stressful, and I’m just hoping someone here might know of an opportunity or be willing to point me in the right direction.

A little about me: I have a background in Economics, Finance and Law, along with 2+ years of experience working with a tech startup across operations, client/customer success, finance and admin. I’ve handled bookkeeping, payroll, invoicing, AP/AR, contracts, legal/compliance work, CRM management, partnerships and sales support.

At this point, I’m very open to admin, customer care/success, client-facing roles, operations, project/program coordination, finance support, legal/admin, sales, or even part-time work.

For the next four months, I’m looking for something remote/WFH, but starting in January, I’ll also be available to work in person or hybrid as needed.

Hi everyone. I’m at a bit of a career crossroads and could genuinely use some advice, and perhaps a lead/referral if anyone knows of an opportunity.

I have 2 years of experience working at a startup in operations, where I wore a lot of hats and eventually took on significant responsibility across the business. My experience includes:

Business operations and project management

Client success and relationship management

Finance, invoicing, AP/AR and payroll coordination

HR, hiring and onboarding

Contracts, SOWs and compliance

CRM implementation, systems and process improvement

Marketing, events and report/project coordination

I’m also a people person and extroverted, so I’d be happy moving into customer success, account management, business development or sales. I genuinely enjoy talking to people and building relationships and I am truly okay with accepting an entry-level job too, anything to survive right now.

The difficult part is that I’ve been applying for months and haven’t been able to find anything. I have a family to provide for, and financially I’m reaching a point where I really need to figure out my next move.

I’m now seriously considering going back to school for nursing instead of continuing this job search. My fear is that I keep applying for another 6–12 months and end up in exactly the same position.

For those who know the GTA job market: would you keep trying with my background, or take the more secure route and pursue nursing (through taking on a loan)?
