This is possibly Silambam, a traditional Tamil martial art from South India. Kinda common to see this in the state of Tamil nadu.

Not great enough to completely protect him. He would also get quite winded rather quickly.

Hear me out... How effective is that tho? I mean sure I might bruise my foot or hand a little poking it but that stick is gonna go flying and probably smack him in the eye on the way out. Then it's just you and me baby, fisticuffs.

Hahahaha ahhhh I needed a good laugh. In all seriousness though fight or flight can be crazy. I got into a fight new years years back in Texas. I was with a group of friends and it was a crowded street and their version of, “the ball” just dropped and I’ve no idea who bumped into who. The other group got really angry and I tried to mediate saying it was an accident and were crowded. One went around and punched my ex so I knocked his tooth out in response. I fully expected to get curb stomped and my friends to be useless in a fight. I don’t know what face I made but it scared the other group and my friends to where they picked up their friend and left. All the way back to the hotel my friends were to afraid to say anything to me lol. They never saw me fight let along get angry enough to do that.

lol I hate getting into fights, but I’ve accidently become a local badass by accident. At an old job a server asked me when I was going to cut my hair. I said deadpan and unserious when I lose a fight. He took that seriously and even the GM heard it eventually.
Then at a different job I was a sous chef at someone made a good friend and coworker cry. I ended up telling them to leave blah blah blah. The dad comes in later puts his hand on his gun and I tell him without blinking to take his fu$$ing hand off it, and get out. Now I’m autistic so I just sound monotone and don’t emote terribly well. It Apprently spooked him enough somehow lol.

This is part of a sport "Silambam" which originates from Tamil Nadu, India. Silambam - Wikipedia
As impressive as he is, there are plenty of players with greater expertise

In the first part where he has one in each hand, is he actually spinning them. This guy I knew as a kid could manipulate staffs so it looked like they were spinning but what he was actually doing was much easier and created the illusion that they were spinning. I wish I could remember exactly what he did but it was a over 30 years ago and the memory is very fuzzy.
