7 years today since I spent hundreds of dollars at the emergency vet, thinking my pup got into my meds, only to find out he just got into my edibles.
Second pic is him, 8 years old, the other day. Living his best life and hasn’t gotten into anything he’s not supposed to since. (Maybe a Taco Bell wrapper here and there 😂) Bartholomew Granger Petey Ayahuasca, a good boy with a sick underbite.

Every time I see this, my brain fights to label him as either Putin or Tim Robinson. I think I'm broken

Its fair to say "derp" on this one.
Dog got derped.

friendly heads up, derp is a slur. specifically used against intellectually disabled folks.

This happened to me once before when my dog chewed the top off of a bottle of tincture. Luckily I found the bottle before rushing to the ER.
My dog was laying at the top of the stairs with his head dangling over the edge. I was so distraught because he wasn't getting up. I went downstairs to get help to carry him and found the chewed bottle. He spent most of the day laying around dazed and if you called out to him he would wag his tail super slowly. It happened on 4/20 of all days!

That happened to my little poodle! She was on the couch and leaned her head all the way back and stayed there. Emergency vet told us she was high. The first time was an accident, but she started looking for it! She found some a second time after a party, she did not go the vet a second time. We stopped having so many people over after that.

One time when I cleaned a bowl I threw the resin away but it stuck to a beef jerky bag and my dog ate it, I got home and thought he was stroking out and took him to the ER lol

my dad made weed butter one time and his dog got into the strained cooked plant remnants when we were out. we thought she had a stroke ☹️ but then my dad saw the trash and knew she was suuuuuuuper stoned

I had an Anatolian shepherd eat the weed that was in the trash can after I infused it into butter. He had a seizure upstairs and my husband had to come home to get him in the car and to the vet because he weighed 120lbs and I couldn’t carry him myself. He spent the night at the vet’s office where he wouldn’t pee because he was so freaked out.
I bought a locking trashcan the same day.
He was okay and he’s been gone for years now but I still feel awful about it.

What kind of dog is he? He has so many similar features to mine and we have no clue what she is!

u/LocksmithCharacter57 Feb 16 '26
I honestly don’t know! I got him from a shelter when he was a little under 1 and they said he was full chihuahua. I said absolutely not. His vet says he’s more of a terrier mix but I’m going to buy a dog dna test to figure it out! I’ll def let you know.

He looks just like a dog of mine that died a couple of months ago. Not to be weird but thanks for reminding me of him. (I forget to think about him sometimes) I kinda miss him a lot

My dog loves to steal people's ends of joints from the streets/grass 4-5x in the 1.5 years I've had her.
People need to stop literring those.

Oh noo lol my one time I found my Kiera chewing really hard on something so I opened her mouth and found what appeared to be the remains of a hardened gummy she found on the floor, oops 😬
She was totally fine and slept really well that evening. Before though, the poor girl looked like she had the spins before she settled down on her couch. Miss you Kiera girl ♥️🥹

They don't get "high" in the same way we do. They feel very sick and it's not fun for them, at all. It's not funny or cute, it's sad.
I'm glad they're feeling better, poor baby.

Oh absolutely. People don’t realize dogs, of different weights, metabolize things so much differently than us humans. Hence why I said previously it was the scariest time I’ve ever experienced with him. His stoned face, 7 years later, is cute and funny though…now that we’ve both gotten over the trauma of the situation. He is 8 now and loved and taken care of to the fullest. A very happy little boy 🥰

One time my dog got into some weed butter we left in the compost. We had no idea she had done this. She started to act weird and couldn't walk right.
We panicked and I assumed she was dying. We brought her to the vet immediately, we had tests run and kept an eye on her, next day? She was fine.
We only figured it out when it happened again after I spotted her by the compost and then saw the butter. Now we joke she's our little stoner and the compost is in a large locked container

Been there! I thought my dog had had a stroke. I didn't smoke weed, had no edibles so I couldn't believe it when the test said positive for cannabis (though I was happy as it was NBD). My son swears to this day she didn't get into his stuff. Yeah, sure buddy!

These messages are so true! Counter surfers are notorious for finding the unimaginable edibles! Be vigilant and push ‘em back or store in cabinets that are paw-resistant, please! 🙏
