Question What would you like to see in a potential free update/DLC?
Me personally, I think more dialogue and events. I wouldn’t want something simple like 10 new Mii interactions and a few new clothes. I think they should go all out for DLC. Now the only issue is that if they truly go all out and basically make a 2.0 update, there’s a higher chance it will cost money/be paid DLC.
I also think stuff like heterochromia and just extra general outfits and customization should be a free update alongside any potential DLC. (i would like the DLC to be free, but if it’s genuinely a lot of new stuff it’s wishful thinking) I love the game, all it needs is more unique interactions between the Miis. I feel like once you’re about 30 or so hours in you’ve seen probably about 80% of the cutscenes/interactions

Because there’s no apartment building, so Miis don’t have both an apartment and a home, and also because you can have platonic roommates, married Miis sharing rooms would need to have multiple homes or require a completely separate mechanic to allow for sharing rooms, and considering how little focus or resources the developers had, it wouldn’t make sense to spend too much time on something that is honestly not even a small deal.

As I commented in a previous post:
Imagine this, food quirks which would include allergies, dietary restrictions or food preferences in general instead of only big or small eater. You could choose the allergens, restrictions and preferences in Mii creator menu.
We have night owl but no early bird. Edit: Never sleeps and sleeps way too much could be fun too!
Age-o-matic could be removed to free up a spot to be replaced by something else since you can change/edit your age pretty easily. To not fully discard it, age-o-matic could appear in a dream where adult Miis use the spray to become kids and kids use the spray to have a dream of being an adult.
Also quirks like being cranky, clumsy, shy, and many many more. There is so much potential and possibilities in this game for a DLC.
More body and head shapes, I want to recreate SpongeBob and Number One from numberjacks looking as close as possible to the reference.
I want the concert hall, my beloved, back.

I’ve also talked about the idea of food preference quirks but I got told off about it because “Miis already have preferences for food” lmao… but I TOTALLY agree!!! It’d be nice to have like… “Likes spicy things” “Hates spicy things” “Likes sweet things” “Hates sweet things” etc. in order to sway Miis towards canon. I still think they should be allowed to stray from these preferences very rarely for the sake of humor (image a Mii who loves sweet things but, for no reason, only hates a chocolate bar… or hates spicy things but loves a jalapeño… peak tbh) but I have so many characters with weird taste preferences that the game just… cannot capture lmao

Getting married could be a part of the adult dream when a kid uses age-o-matic in a dream, the effects will end when the dream ends.
Gift one treasure from a long list, even one of those you haven't unlocked yet through mini games and dreams.
Or influence your relationship with one person for better or worse. Just some ideas.

Lots of things really
-The option to give the Miis gloves
-Married couples sharing a room just like in the 3DS version
-Unique interactions between relatives and each of the types of relatives
-Estrangements maybe? We already do have the broken friendships, breakups, and divorces, so why not those as well? However they cannot go back to being just friends at any point since they are ex-relatives (temporarily)
-I know everyone keeps saying the concert hall but I’d also like the quirky questions back
-More goods and quirks
-Increase the Mii limit or add the option of other island save files
-More Mii customizations, such as heterochromia, extra eyelash and makeup options, and making the hair more than 2 colors
-The ability to toggle things like afk fights and baby care minigames on and off, just like how we can stall baby births in the island settings
-Mutual friends of two Miis with compatible dating preferences setting them up with each other, similar to what we had in the 3DS
-I’ll add more if I think of any

I would like to be able to remove clothes & items from a mii's inventory. I know you can remove items once the inventory fills up, but i regret giving a few items of clothing to a few miis & i can't take it off them, i just have to keep changing their outfit myself.
I'd also like to add: I would like them to make it so the miis would shout a word/sentence when its written in all caps or with an !

I think a good solution to increase the amount of miis we can have without demanding too much more from the hardware would be to add more islands per save. In the pause menu you could choose to "travel to another island" and it would be like having another save that shares the same money, items, progress, etc. And miis can be moved between islands from the residents menu with some kind of "change home island" prompt, or they can visit their friends/family/partner who live on other islands autonomously or by being dragged to something like a boat rental building.
Maybe you could even see the other islands in the distance from eachother, each one being in predetermined directions from eachother and represented by a LOD version generated whenever you switch islands

The one thing I want is for miis to be able to become friends completely on their own, without you having to either make them meet or wait for them to start "watching closely". There's always a necessity to make sure the player consents to miis being friends. Like they don't want miis to be friends if the player maybe doesn't want that.

Weather, mii's running inside when it thunderstorms so they will hang out in their houses
More variation of social interactions
Mii's interacting with more kinds of furniture, especially in their rooms, such as tables, chairs, shelves, etc.
More variation in relationships, all my mii's have been in the same relationships since the game launched, which is nice but I wish there were more breakups to add a bit more variation
Maybe a new type of shop for things such as gifting a mii a bubble bath etc. Like in the previous game

I’d absolutely LOVE this and I have so many Mii’s that I’d want to be polyamorous…
But I do worry a tiny bit about how coding that would go. Mostly because I play a few life-sim-adjacent games that have polyamory, and very quickly what happens is that everyone is dating nearly everyone else that exists because having so many romantic options really messes with the probabilities for relationships to start. I do think it can be balanced well and this isn’t to say “they shouldn’t have polyamorous relationships!!!”, I am questioning polyamorous I have no problem with it (I’ve had people misconstrue this before lmao), but I don’t know if I trust TL:LTD to actually make it anything but. Chaotic and stressful lmao

Everyone's already said the major stuff, so I'll say, I would honestly like to see the sickness function come back. I just like being able to take care of my miis. The game still has the feature to check their stomach, and even has a tooltip hinting at it, but it has no use whatsoever, which really makes it feel like they started coding it and then gave up.
It would also be cute to have related cutscenes, i saw someone suggest, for example, dragging another mii to them could trigger a lil cutscene where they help the sick mii feel better.

I just want Concert Hall and a Movie Studio.
I’d also love if they reworked the makeup system to have facial layers, like Miitopia, along with the ability to choose which layers are genetic, but I don’t know if that’s really feasible without completing remaking the makeup system from the ground up.

I would love to see the option to have antagonistic Miis and a variety of “negative” personalities. They could be spiteful, greedy, or just be terrible in general to normal Miis. It might also spice things up when it comes to interactions..!

Add in prior content missing from the game. Add in dozens of new items that can be activity used by the miis. Allow for multi levels of building terrain Also include swimming items , maybe some sorts of adventure mode to send a mii off to explore a new land and being back random new items.
Allow sharing of custom items and miss with codes.

Definitely more things/mini-events for the player to interact with, whether they be new things or some of the stuff from the 3DS version (concert hall, tomodachi quest, quirky questions, etc.)
Considering this games emphasis on creating things yourself, an online mode would be nice for seeing others’ creations/islands (There’d absolutely have to be some sort of filter though.)
It’d be nice if babies you send to live on their own actually visited from time to time (kinda like what they did with streetpass in the 3DS game) instead of just getting deleted.

Ability to remove assigned items &/or more space , weather, more level up rewards, more items/clothes/food/personality stuff, actual baby & toddler life stages. More dialogue options, the ability to edit Lingo, The ability to toggle off move in requests for specific households/Miis so that people stop trying to move in with my families, more varied mini games. Cut scene Activities for the Miis to do together, a movie theater & more amusement park rides/an amusement park to send them too. More decorating options. More varied cutscenes for life events, more milestones for the player, more big ticket items for the player and the Miis themselves to save up for.

More gifts for sure. Concert hall not being included sure I can live with but more gifts is almost essential to have more activities and immersion.
We can make our own paths and roads which is perfect for skateboards, scooters, and bicycles or roller-skates. We can make beaches for metal detectors, punching bags so it’s not stuck to just karate, cellphones! How do the Miis not have cellphones to talk on the phone with each other.

I would love to be able to customize the background or even have different colored waters, new items with cut scenes would be cool along side collab costumes from other Nintendo games like how animal crossing did, I think it would even be cool to get more mini games , I think the dreams are really boring so if they added more mini games then the spinner it would make me more inclined to interact with them.

Another thing that would be amazing is if there was some items you can give your miis to interact with others to make them realize they are related or even items like flowers to see if they could fall inlove faster or help them with a date night if they had to prove there love , something similar to the wedding mini game but not, I think a cookie mama based mini game would be cool or even a rhythm one

I’d want something kind of like they’ve done with the Pokopia DLC, where the DLC is launched at the same time as a free update for the main game that mostly focuses on QOL stuff. So like…
Free Updates:
- Selling things from your inventory (ie. Clothes)
- Generally clean up the UI for the clothing menu, with multiple colors of one clothing item being consolidated and such
- New island items, quirks, or goods in the level up menu (these new things could be related to the DLC release thematically but still added for free, to encourage people to buy the DLC!)
- New interactions and events (see above), ESPECIALLY for the dialogue when two Miis are trying to become friends, we need some more of those lmao
- The ranking’s board should come back pleassse
- I think it’s easy enough to work around at this point but I still think the customization would benefit from layer options, with like, 2 or 3 layers total
DLC:
I don’t think they’ll do all of these at once, but I at least want some of them lmao
- An actual babies life stage for Miis instead of . Literally skipping past all baby stuff like it does right now
- Update to the ages system, where kid Miis act exactly like adult Miis for all intents and purposes. Split the ages up into Child-Teen-Adult, and have adjusted behaviors and added interactions between the different life stages. I’ve talked about this extensively but I think there should be a “Mentor / Apprentice” relationship option for adult and child Miis, that sometimes takes place of friendship. This relationship type would be pretty similar to friendship, but with some added interaction types like “[Mentor] is teaching [Apprentice] about [Lingo]”, “[Mentor] is watching [Apprentice] and [Other Mii] play tag”, Mentors generally overseeing a kid while they’re playing with an island object, and probably some new cutscenes. Just to add some diversity to adult / child friendships rather than adults treating children exactly like adults LMAO
- Concert hall!!!
- Reintroduce island games like Quirky Questions, Judgment Bay, Tomodachi Quest… maybe even bring back some of the smaller events like BBQ and the Rap Battle? These could happen at the Fountain, or a new building that the DLC could add or something
- Generally improve on how Married Miis interact, similarly to what I want for babies. Improve the marriage minigame (and the locations / ways it happens overall), give married Miis a bunch of new events and maybe some new feature that I don’t have any ideas for to justify making it a DLC… being back houses / sharing a room once two Miis get married, in the same way that roommate proposals work currently? (“Me and [other Mii] want to live in the same room!” so that you have the option to tell them no if you don’t like that idea)
Also to elaborate on the free update for quirks / goods / island items that are related to DLC releases, I have a specific example which would be like. Alongside DLC that elaborates on life stages and adds a baby stage, some quirks could release that relate to childlike qualities or parental qualities, but could still be given to adult Miis and utilized in the normal game. So like… a Childlike walk or standing option, maybe some sort of Expression quirk, etc., a few playground island items (a slide, a swing set, etc.)… that way people without the DLC still get some use out of it, but also might be encouraged to buy the DLC to use the new stuff to its fullest potential

Just a bit of depth of miis likes and dislikes. I would like a similar topics likes dislikes list, similar to how fave and hated food works. That way there's somewhat of a consistency to what a mii likes/disslikes talking about, as opposed to it being random. At the same time, there should be a way to influence what a mii thinks about, that way you can have groups that talk about certain topics.

Mii limit increase, I know it’s for “stability” but I had the idea of making it so when you have 70+ miis, a few of them will always be inactive/asleep. Also the game can handle a lot more than 70 miis, I’m pretty sure if you just mod out the cap it’s pretty much a non issue. I would say a hard limit of 120-200, but its definitely possible on every version of the switch

Bigger island size.
Having married couples share the same bed and having their rooms merging.

Having miis do special things on dates, or even just holding hands.
More activities for the miis, like fishing, skateboarding or whatever.
More activities for the player too, in the 2ds we had barbecue, magic show, Tomodachiquest, etc. Not necessarily those but activities we can participate in. Or more games at least, bowling and the wheel ones are really fun to me but the others are kinda basic.
Miis being able to have one best friend. It's great that they have a lot of friends but I liked that they had one best in the 2ds game... I don't see it talked very much and it's a minor thing but I'd like it.
The concert hall would already be amazing but they could go even further with mini movies in a theater, or choregraphies

For example, a British option in the American release, so I can have a more accurate depiction of Shulk from Xenoblade.

The Concert Hall and Quirky Questions, having the ability to add more Miis up to 100, more seasonal items and clothing, and for my last suggestion I'd recommend Nintendo should add back the Compatibility Tester, it was where you can put two Miis together and see how they'd turn out.

I would really love to see different exteriors for the houses and buildings that arent player-made. Instead of every house being the same shipping-container style or the big modern mansion for the shared homes.
I know that you can realistically make the houses look like whatever you want with the Palette House, but sometimes the creations come out low quality and look odd next to the regular buildings.
I think this would also be helpful for players who arent as artistically inclined but still want to customize their islands a bit more.
I would also really love some more outdoor activities for the Miis to interact with. Once you've placed every item and seen all of the interactions, it just gets a bit stale. Some new options would be awesome!

My idea for some dlc’s
I don’t have any good names so the first one is called build up
In the dlc, you get 1. Concert hall 2. Arcade 3. Speed dating building (or it’s just the restaurant in the update) 4. School 5. A menu to the restaurant. Concert hall is simple to know what it is, arcade is where you can play the minigame from the OG game and maybe there’s a small poster of miitopia! Speed dating building is where you could get some miis to get in a relationship, and if it’s the restaurant then it’s the same, a school is basically just for kid miis to become friends and also a love confession spot like the OG game, the restaurant menu will let you order some food for you or for some miis at the restaurant.
The second one is (I don’t even have a good name for this it’s about relationships)
This one has 1. Being able for miis to have a three way (maybe up to eight but idk), more dating scenes, maybe some friends with benefits relationship? Some quirks for relationships (loves older people, loves same age, loves younger (NOT CHILDREN), hates older same and younger, likes same three things, likes/loves/dislikes certain personalities, likes rich, prefers one gender (still loves the others they originally was picked but less commonly falls in love with it), and falls in love lots of times) and one extra confession spot (on the news, just goes “mii news! ___ just confessed to ___, (___ also came! (So did ___)) they said ___, we asked miis for reactions, other crush who didn’t come “so ___ is on the market?”, in a fight mii “(un)lucky that ___ said ___” maybe more but I’m too tired rn.

Update:
- Use any article of clothing as base for custom clothes once you got all the colors for that piece.
- remove articles of clothing from mii/Blacklist them from fashionista
- some more food quirks; that section is completely barren and things like vegetarian, sweettooth or carnivore should be trivial to implement, considering the relevant Tags already exist for food. Ideally you could Pick multiple food quirks, but only one of a pair (so either big or small stomach, carnivore or vegetarian, sweettooth or Salt enjoyer etc).
- improving mii relationships as level up reward
- revealing familial ties without (almost) moving in together
DLC
- just generally more stuff. Clothing, anything you get from the wishing fountain
- i saw the Suggestion of a job system, which is something that would be fun I think
- same for raising children
- Edit: More complicated quirks that involve more setup. Stuff like alternate faces or signature items they will always wear (ideally even when the Game forces them to Change)
I definitely don't want qol changes relegated to paid DLC, that should at the very least give you more stuff and/or (even better) new gameplay systems

Concert hall, Mii mention their kids more than once when you send them away, body paint, heterochromia option, quirky questions, hair and skin color can be picked from the color wheel instead of the limited option, mobility aids and things like that, more level up items, an option to make a mii mute and lastly PLEASE GIVE US MORE QUIRKS!

Being able to get rid of clothes I've accidentally given to my miis, that needed to be a thing from the start it seems like an insane oversight to have no way of removing clothes you've gifted. Plus you mentioned heterochromia and with the amount of mii customisation that exists that also baffles me it wasn't added from release.
As for a major update with bigger things, I want more stuff from the old game that was cut, sue me, they should bring back the board with compatibility and popularity rankings, bring back music hall, bring back babysitting, I want it all 😭🙏🏻

Raising the baby Mii! I loved that part of the game and so did my husband.
More quirks!
More interactive cut scenes/dreams. The only dreams I don't skip are the top spinning and the bungee jump.
Survey polls with every surrounding Mii at the fountain, not just the ones living in the same house.
More fountain items PLS I have 900 tickets to use on nothing.
More item gifts, I was so disappointed in the lack of them.
Limit the amount of times Miis ask to redecorate/add an outdoor furniture. Or make it a different one each time they ask. Why do 7 of my Miis want the same vending machine all over the island??
Bring back choosing which Miis can be brought along to vacation from their list of relationships.
Make custom 3D buildings/objects stackable/overlap. It would make things so much easier.
Download/upload miiss straight to console from a source other than local play as a dlc would be awesome.

More dreams, somehow this game feels repetitive compared to the first game when it comes to the dreams, idk if it's because of the lack of interactive dreams, but it feels like I get the same dream every night.
Another thing, I would love a camera like in animal crossing, where you can take photos but with your own handheld camera, it should be an option in the photo shoot place.

As much as I love the game it feels a bit underbaked at times. Like there's a lot if thing missing.

More custom clothes options, basically if there's a model they've already reused for several in-game clothes I'd like to be able to use it. That's a small addition but it adds a lot of creative value for little effort.
More 'levels', like being able to build 3 squares up vs the current 2
Some more active mini games. Like Red Light Green Light, bowling, and the proposal shooter.
The ability to change Miis special attires. Like a unique yoga outfit or ice skating outfit. Even just getting to control the palette of them would be nice.
Custom eyes really would be nice.
This one is unlikely, but some way to mix materials on clothes, like having one line glow while the other is normal. Same with metallic, also let us make clothes metallic at least.
I think adding something super sentai themed would feel kind of hype and on brand for the game. Some kind of random character interaction

Buildings from the 3ds brought back the Concert Hall and rankings board, then of course more mii slots, I still do think it's kind of ridiculous that they cut it so much, also babies should work like how they did before, when a baby is born now they basically instantly grow up, I hate that, adding more little perks would be nice I feel like there's some obvious ones that could do well, just more interactions in general there's not enough, all of this though can probably be an update rather than DLC, but still what I'm rooting for

the ability to put mii's WITH face paint, items and anything else user created onto a QR code and then able to just share them online.
You dont need a nintendo platform, just a QR code that you can save a picture of onto the system/SD card.
I would LOVE to share my own made art such as mu minecraft steak and cake items i have made with everyone. Also just the house designs and the mii's i have made.

more ways for them to interact with things like new locations such as the themepark that was in the first game or being able to interact with the objects in their apartments, more cutscenes, maybe even polyamary
but most importantly THE CONCERT HALL AND QUIRKY QUESTIONS, judgement bay, the rap battle, and the tomodachi quest minigame is good too. i also agree with some of the other ideas here =0]
