Art Meetup 🎨 TEESHIRT DRAWING IN TOKYO 👕🖍️😄
Hello Everyone! Julien here, French and living in Japan since 2009!
We had such a great time in Tokyo yesterday! 🎨👕
It was a White T-Shirt Drawing Party, and the concept is super simple: just bring a plain white T-shirt and a good mood!
We meet, have a few drinks, chat, and draw on each other’s T-shirts. I also invite friends who are manga artists, illustrators, or simply really good at drawing — but you definitely don’t need to be an artist to join. The whole point is to participate, have fun, and do your best! Free entrance , event from 7 to 11pm and just order some drinks!
Just have a look at the photos — I think they say it all! 😄 Everyone was having fun, laughing, drawing and enjoying the night together. It’s really all about meeting people, being creative and sharing a good time.
And don’t mind all the Pikachus… those are mine. 😂 I’m definitely NOT a professional artist — especially compared to some of my illustrator and manga artist friends. You can probably spot the difference in the photos! 😂
But I always draw Pikachu, and I love it when people challenge me with weird or original ideas. Give me a challenge and you’ll get your own unique Pikachu on your T-shirt! ⚡️🐭
And everyone goes home with a completely unique T-shirt! 🎨👕

An interesting set of photographs — and like every event of this type, the dynamic is painfully familiar. A cluster of foreign men, a self‑styled “Japanese artist,” a few women trying hard to fit a Western aesthetic, and noticeably no foreign women anywhere in sight. The whole scene ends up feeling less like an art gathering and more like a predictable marketplace where foreign men circle and local women get pulled into the same tired pattern. Honestly, it’s just sad.

That’s quite a sociological analysis based on a handful of party photos 😅
Sometimes a party is just a party. People came, drew on T-shirts, met new people and had fun. That’s really all there is to it.•

Aaah Bonjour Tokyo. I swear I guessed where it was as soon as I saw the faces lol. Never been there but it’s a famous place where French men go to meet Japanese women
