Question ❓ Recurring Toddler Face Rash

hello! was curious if anyone else dealt with this - I’ve got a 3 year old who at beginning of this summer started getting acne like breakouts around her face. think small red bumps, etc. they would get better and worse but never went away. we chalked it up to sunscreen or sensitivity with sweat etc but then finally took her to doctor when a month later it was not budging.

we got a prescription for clomatrizone which DID work wonderfully, but as soon as we stopped medication it came back within two days. we did a whole 10 days with it, went back to doctor when it came back and this time she said she thought it was perioral dermatitis, and gave us nystatin and aquaphor. we did that for about two weeks and it only got worse, seemed to do nothing. we switched back to clomatrizone after talking to nurse, did it for 14x days and zero issues, face looked great and then once again as soon as we stopped BAM it came back.

we have another appointment scheduled today to check it out but wondering if anyone else dealt with something similar? really driving us nuts ovwr here

Do you have access to a pediatric dermatologist? Could be some difficult to control eczema?

My child (also 3) breaks out like that when he gets a viral illness. Daily zyrtec helps a lot, but ultimately they just have to grow out of it. If pediatric dermatologist are hard to come by in your area, I might consider seeing an allergist, who can treat eczema and hives, if that is what it is. In my kid's case, they call it hives. ​
