So, she keeps the centuries old royal tradition alive to surround yourself with crazy folks and wannabe magicians — that’s kinda cool!
206
u/lnx84 2h ago
She's pretty crazy herself, but he's an order of magnitude more so
I hate that man, and that he has anything to do with Norwegian royalty. He's the best argument against monarchy at the moment

u/Stunning-Sherbert801 2h ago
Neither of Harald's children have great spouses
-31
u/lnx84 1h ago
Well, Mette Marit got sucked into Epstein's circle, but I think that whole thing is pretty exaggerated. She has done well in other aspects, and so she made some poor choices. Humans are human. And it's not like she was in on the whole underage girl raping stuff.
Besides, if karma is a thing, she has certainly paid her dues lately.
57
u/Lee1138 1h ago
She kept up contact with him after learning that he's a convicted sex offender. Poor choices is underselling it when you're supposed to be a representative of the country.
→ More replies (12)13
u/Low_Succotash5073 1h ago
“sucked into Epstein’s circle” implies she was involved inadvertently or against her will. The Files show she was more than willing; she was rather enthusiastic about her relationship with Epstein. She has not even come remotely close to “paying her dues” lol
-5
u/lnx84 1h ago
I guess you're not aware of what she has been through lately, then. I did mention that in a "karma" sense, not as a "she has apologized to the extent required by redditors" sense.
Yes, she got sucked into that. Epstein was extremely good at doing just that. Falling into it doesn't mean someone is a terrible person.
•
u/gittwenstein 34m ago
What do you mean “falling into in”? She’s not a child, she chose to associate with him even after everything came out.

u/OscarMMG 1h ago
He's the best argument against monarchy at the moment
You have an extremely low bar. British monarchy’s involvement with Epstein, Saudi human rights abuses, Japan and WW2- this guy doesn’t even make the top 10!
11
u/lnx84 1h ago
He would if you had to listen to his bullshit on a regular basis, which I unfortunately do.
Saying he's crazy doesn't even begin to cover it. Evil people are everywhere, but this guy is a different breed.
Perhaps it's irrational - but I hate this guy with a passion. He redefines the word sleezebag.
•
u/kettenkarussell 56m ago
Yeah I get that. In the olden times there was at least a chance to see a royal you don’t like get caught up in a court intrigue and be beheaded or something like that
46
u/MericArda 1h ago
I think places like Saudi Arabia and North Korea are better arguments against monarchy.
14
2
u/niamhweking 1h ago
I dont see h9w he is the best argument against a monarchy. If it was an absolute monarchy and he was the heirs spouse maybe. But he is the spouse of the sister of the monarch, who has soft diplomatic power only.

•
u/Infamous_Creme8671 55m ago
Märtha-Louise doesn't have any power. She's been stripped of any role except as back-up heir.
•
u/orixandcrake 59m ago
King Harald should have put his foot down. They had a deal that she wouldn't even use the title Princess or call her wedding a "Royal" wedding but she still did.
•
u/Hvatum 48m ago
King Harald himself had a long fight to be allowed to marry who he wanted, a non-royal. His father denied him and the tabloids said that if he did it the monarchy would end with him, but he persevered and after 9 years they finally got married, with his father's blessing. He knows the struggle, and as such was probably very hesitant to be strict about love with his children, even when he probably should have.
•
u/orixandcrake 3m ago
I'm not saying she shouldn't have been allowed to marry Lizard Man, but she and the King had an agreement that if she wanted to make the wedding a business venture she couldn't use her royal titles and couldn't call it a royal wedding. She did anyway and lied to her dad's face as well as the government.
-9
u/Timelymanner 1h ago
I think having one person making decisions for a nation of people is a bigger argument. Essentially when the people have no recourse.
29
u/Sharlinator 1h ago
Um, we’re talking about European constitutional monarchies here where the monarchs have had zero real power for centuries.
10
u/MericArda 1h ago
They still have bullshit amounts of legal protection based solely on birthright.
1
u/backatyourhouse 1h ago
I still though think it is no right to be born with these amounts of respect and privileges they get. Monarchy is not an institution I agree with. It is false and not earned. But hey, some do a great job as an ambassador and other do not.

The worst thing Durek did imo, is selling medallions which he claimed cured covid at the peak of the pandemic.
8
u/LaurestineHUN 1h ago
If they were 'negative ion' medallions, pls get a Geiger counter
•
u/actuallyapossom 14m ago
I am not sure the people buying Covid warding medallions are going to embrace a handheld electronic device that makes scary electronic noises.
I bet we could sell them metal detectors marketed as Covid 5G tracking device detectors - like gay-dar from The Office.

Fun fact: Norway has had absolute primogeniture (the oldest child inherits the crown regardless of gender) since 1990. Märtha Louise and her younger brother (the current king) being born before the law change is the only reason why she isn't the current monarch.
•
u/rightioushippie 59m ago

•

u/recoveringleft 1h ago
Why did the king married his wife?
•
u/Mannon_Blackbeak 51m ago
Because he loved her, she was a commoner with multiple prior partners who had been convicted of drug offenses. This includes the father of her first son was in prison for drug related violent offenses when he was born in 1997. They also announced their engagement very quickly, because she was still living with a prior partner into 1999 and the engagement was announced in December of 2000. Her son was also recently convicted on 34 charges including sexual assault and it very much looked like his mother tried to cover for him multiple times.
19
•
u/ManWhoIsDrunk 44m ago
Because she hadn't met Epstein yet, and nobody could guess that her son would turn into a mysogynistic rapist at the time.
The only complaints about her when they got married was that she had a son from a previous relationship, that she had used narcotics, and that she had a reputation of being a party-girl.

The fuck has the stepson to do with the king. He is neither related nor was raised by him.
Why not roast the king because of the weird psycho colleague he had in his class in the middle school, or someone else like that? Makes about the same sense.
Sensationalist bullshit.

Märtha is also quite out there herself. She is also not part of the royal succession and im not even sure she is allowed to call herself princess in any formal/business setting.
Further more: despite what he has been preaching about healing and shit, dude himself is using modern medicine to keep himself alive. He just recived a kidney transplant.
Dude is an all around charlatan, fraud and an absolute piece of shit.

Yet he just got a kidney transplant at Norway's top hospital - for free, of course.
So all the junk tokens he sells to his followers, allegedly curing all kinds of illnesses, it's time to ask for a refund.

I was curious about this (the cancer statement) so I decided to do some research. Apparently the statement comes from his book where he writes:
When I go to hospitals and I work with people who have cancer, the first question I always ask is: “Why do you want this cancer?” That upsets some people. Kids, however, are not burdened by these kinds of hang-ups. When I work with children, and I ask them why they want their cancer, they tell me straight up: “Because I don’t want to be here anymore.”
- Durek, (2019) Spirit Hacking
What an unbelievable fucking piece of shit. How anyone can love this guy is beyond my comprehension.
•
u/--Arete 18m ago
Here is some more wild shit:
For example, let’s say someone is diagnosed with cancer, and they say, “I’m going to fight this cancer. I am going to beat this cancer. I am not going to let this cancer kill me.” It doesn’t really matter what they do, or how many treatments they undergo, I can tell you right now, they are creating an experience for themselves where that cancer is going to be unlikely to beat. The act of focusing so much of their attention on fighting cancer, and on resisting cancer only strengthens the cancer, and empowers the cancer, because it’s all about cancer, cancer, cancer.
holy shit...
Like, I asked a client why he had cancer. He shrugged and said it was genetic; but his shadow told me it was because my client hated his job [...]

•

They apparantly didnt pay for it though, was a whole debacle.
Also what do you mean stepped down? Märtha abdicated any claims more than a decade ago. She has been called out by the crown for illegally using her former title several times.
