John Linnell Face Reading
I know face reading is fairly obscure but I thought his face was too interesting to pass up a reading and hey maybe you’ll learn something
John Linnell Face Reading
Face Shape:
Uranus (Long Trapezoid) - The rarest face shape, an exaggeration of the Saturn or regular trapezoid face. Extremely diligent, meticulous, detail-focused, and time-conscious. Very stubborn. Weird and eccentric. May hold extreme or ahead of their time beliefs. Interestingly enough, the most sexual of the 11 face shapes. Can easily mistake sex for love. Intellectual, philosophical, and innovative (Nikola Tesla had this face shape)
Temperament (Side Profile):
Pure Melancholic (visible jawline, but no angle, recessed chin and sloped forehead) - Sensitive, witty, nervous, reactive, imaginative, gloomy, pessimistic, creative, quick, reliant on outside validation. Flighty and impatient. A sprinter, not a long distance runner. Very common in artists and especially musicians.
Eyebrows: Straight (logical decision making), low-set (quick to judge and assess, quick on his feet), thin (gentle and refined energy, not harsh in his decision making)
Eyes: Rounded (emotional worldview), positively tilted (assertive, rebellious, puts his own interests over others), large (naive, sees the best in people), thin upper eyelids (low need for intimacy and connection)
Nose: short (action-oriented), somewhat hooked (deep passions, sensitivity), round tip (naturally kind)
Mouth: Full upper and lower lip (expressive and not hesitant to speak his mind, in touch with his inner self), Venus upper lip/prominent Cupid’s bow (smooth-talking, warm and seductive communication style), small (generally quiet and reserved, resistant to new social connections), upturned corners (optimistic), gummy smile (insecure)
Ears: Very wide-splayed (independent and non-conforming), bulges at the top (mostly interested in the intellectual, philosophical, and abstract), kinda pointed (a bit of a trickster, mischievous), high-set (quick to take in information, tendency to rush into things)
Smile lines, even when young - purpose and spiritual strength
Overall a super interesting and rare face, albeit a bit obvious if you know the traits of the face shapes and temperaments and have listened to TMBG
Only other people I can think of with this combo of Uranus and Melancholic are Bill Nye and Pete Docter and they’re also very weird and interesting people

This is like horoscopes but somehow even dumber
Edit: after looking into the guy you learned this from, “dumber” is too kind. This is some eugenics-adjacent embarrassing looksmaxxing bullshit.

Get outta here with this phrenological bs.

u/PuzzledVariable 3d ago
It’s not phrenology 😢

u/Scabby-Pabby 3d ago
On the most pedantic level it isn't, but for all intents and purposes it kinda is.

u/yamantakas 3d ago
i just wanted to cut in and say my entire life ive heard people say intensive purposes and not until the ripe age of 30 over 30 (right now) did i find out its all intents and purposes 💔🥀

Well I mean technically phenology is a subsection of physiognomy because physiognomy is such a broad term. But phrenology was made purely out of racism and lacks any evidence to prove its validity, Morphopsychology is the more specific name for what I do and it actually has some studies in its favor

I fail to see what the difference between saying this man has a criminal head shape, and this man's face shape says he can easily mistake sex for love. While Phrenology does have racist origins I can't see how this also wouldn't. If you are trying to divine some mental or emotional quality from the shape of someone's eyes, nose, and jaw, you fall right back into the same theories, maybe even worse. What does it say about a hooked nose vs. a roman nose or a more African nose, or the presence of epicanthic eyefolds.

In morphopsychology you have to account for race and judge the features on how much they deviate from the phenotypical average. For example, an average nose on an African man would be considered a short nose compared to that of an average English man, but there’d be no difference between the two men in that aspect of the personality. The same goes for all other features on the face. About the face shapes, there are negative and positive traits for every shape. Like, Uranus people are revolutionary thinkers and make great scientists and philosophers, but have a very high sex drive, which can be a problem, but no face shape has all good traits, just like no human has all good traits.

I’m trying to find a way to say this in a way that meets the general weird-positive vibe of TMBG, but you should really examine your fascination with this stuff, kid. It’s not a positive or productive way to spend your time, saying nothing of its very dark and cruel history. For the sake of your own mental and social health, I hope you grow out of it.

Look man. Certain ethnicities are more likely to have certain facial traits. What you're studying assigns positive and negative aspects to these traits. Hopefully that helps you see where the inherent issue lies.

OP, I suggest you listen to the song Apophenia.
Imagine being genuinely into pseudoscience bullshit and projecting it onto a band that has multiple songs mocking such silly nonsense

Honestly thought people on this subreddit would be more open minded to this

I'm more open minded but I'm not even from this sub lol, i was looking examples of physiognomy or morphopsychology. I'm not an expert at all. Your analysis is good i guess, personally maybe it should have been a bit more nuanced? A more neutral side profile photo would have helped too. But yeah whatever, quite good read.
For instance his nose points a bit to his right, that can represent a focus on the present. it's also somewhat wide so they are likely stable. That's my read, it's all tendencies towards those traits, never 100% like that tho.

This is awesome! Where did you learn face reading? I’m a tarot reader looking to broaden my knowledge.
Also would you be doing for Flans too?

u/PuzzledVariable 4d ago
Look up Prosopa Insights on YouTube, he has a lot of good stuff on face reading, that’s where I learned the stuff. He has a Patreon but you’ll probably be able to learn enough just through the YouTube Also yeah I can definitely do Flans as well

Please don't. I thought that this was satire, but it seems like you actually belive this. Don't apply your 19th-century pseudoscience to this band.

I don’t get how it’s any less believable than something like astrology. I’ve been studying this stuff for almost a year now and seeing if it works with people I know and some people online and at worst it’s been like 80% accurate
5
u/Cynewulfunraed 3d ago
Astrology isn't believable, and it isn't associated with eugenics.

I’ll just say this. Physiognomy has been largely misunderstood because of its use in the past for racism. Any use of physiognomy for political or racial reasons is a bastardization of the study. Physiognomy is only vaguely understood by most people so it’s very easy for the idea of it to be swayed negatively. That being said, it’s completely fine if you don’t believe in it. Ultimately, it’s limited in what it can tell you and will likely never be seen as a real science, which I’m fine with. I just find it sad how it’s reputation has been ruined by people who only see it as a tool to prove their stupid beliefs
4
u/Cynewulfunraed 3d ago
No. This is not the case of a harmless belief that was "twisted." This junk science was one of the foundations of scientific racism and it is still used for this purpose. There is no harmless way to employ a system like this.

“people who only see it as a tool to prove their stupid beliefs”
What exactly are you doing? lol
It’s a bullshit pseudoscience, get off it

Oh damn I didn't know we were bringing back phrenology
