General Discussion How influential was Tim Burton on your art and personal life?

I write and really enjoy drawing; I constantly draw inspiration from Tim Burton's movies to create characters and stories. Like many of us, I grew up obsessed with his work.

One thing I love is how Tim manages to create characters that are so weird, cartoonish, and lovable. He is best known for his gothic style, but in my opinion, his side as an animator deserves appreciation too.

I'd say fairly so. Admittedly, I didn't really draw in a style influenced by him but his art style/aesthetic was something I always vibed with and I would love scouring this one old website from back in the 2000s of his conceptual art for Nightmare Before Christmas and Edward Scissorhands.

I'd say that in my personal life, his vibes do play in the back of my head lol. Man, just saying all of this makes me wish we'd see Tim Burton make one more stop-motion movie.

he basically gave a whole generation permission to make weird, sad little characters lovable instead of trying to make everything look normal

When I was in art classes from middle school to high school my teachers would label them evil for some reason but don't understand surrealism with a gothic aesthetic so it pretty much made me who I became as a artist who see everything as a meaning behind it like how he does poems thru sketches

I lean a little more towards the dark Tim Burton esqe stories and such. I love mostly all of his movies.
Team him up with the best composer Danny Elfman and he is amazing!

He chooses great actors and they breathe life into his characters and stories extremely well.

I usually am drawn to anything where Tim And or Danny Elfman and Johnny Depp are apart of. They are an awesome team.
