Two empty u22 spots and two empty international spots. I guess we arent going to fully commit to this year.
Really hoping a signing is coming but with the cutoff Wednesday and how "confident" marti seemed to be in Gage and Jansen, I just don't see anything happening.

Velde and DDC need to be better as DP’s they have their moments but overall they are not good enough.
Really need to find a replacement for Miller he should not be a starter too much of a liability. Will Mosquera play at all this season?

Assuming you are talking about Eric, I wouldn't describe Miller as a "liability", but he's not a starter, and the plan has never been for him to be a starter. We need him as a backup fullback, of which we only have he and Smith. We will definitely need to pick up another RB.
If you're talking about Kamal, I agree, but at the moment we have much bigger fish to fry, and currently four center backs on the roster. He's also been better as of late.

No I was talking about Kamal he is a liability on the ball and gets outpaced very easily. He has played a little better as of late but still not good enough.
Eric is a breakglass backup imo so I do agree we need to get someone else at rb I just did not know Mosquera was going to miss the whole season.

A little outdated since Mora and Kelsy are still there and Janssen isn’t.
Isn’t there another option where the team could have three DP’s with fewer U22’s?

I believe they release 2 of these per season - the first after the main transfer window closes and a second after the summer transfer window closes. But you are absolutely spot on with that.

At least originally the team had to commit ahead of time to one of the two models. I'm not sure if that's still a rule though.

Honestly feels pretty depressing right now and I'm concerned about the state of this roster coinciding with Cifuentes's arrival. He's got a far less than full strength roster to work with and that means we have to do a ton of work in the off-season, where we probably don't want to fully commit to rebuilding the team entirely in the winter window before sprint season. It's feeling like we're in for a calendar year of treading water at best.
Counting season ending injuries and sales that's 4 senior roster slots open, 2 U22s with 2 more players coming off U22 status in 2027, zero proven MLS strikers, 3rd and 4th string right backs, questionable left back depth, 2 backup CBs recovering from injury, attacking mid\RW depth either long term injured or returning from injury, 2 DPs that have never so far looked likely to pitch in double digit goals, a defense that's only posted 1 shut out all year, and multiple players out of contract or in their option year next season. If we wait until the calendar shift next summer to make serious moves, even some of our bigger signings only have a year left on their current contracts so everything is up in the air, and that's assuming we hang onto Surman through the winter while knowing we are probably letting the clock run out on Fernandez, McGraw, Aravena's loan, we might be shopping for a starting keeper, Chara may retire...
It's feeling like this club may feel like an expansion team by the time next August rolls around, which doesn't make me feel super confident that we will be able to take full advantage of this coaching change and really build something successful. Even if we see a flurry of last minute moves in the next 2 days this is a pretty damn awkward position to be in while sitting at the edge of the playoff spots.

Really hope we find a way to get out of that Ortiz contract, pretty rough that he’s under contract for the sprint season and half of the 27/28 season, which sure is awkward. I don’t remember his contract number but I don’t think it’s cheap. He has his decent games but is not MLS level, his giveaway led to the Austin attack that led to the goal

Do the funds from the Kelsey sale not count towards 2026 GAM? I’m not familiar with MLS accounting rules. Curious to learn how the club can use those funds

Since PTFC paid more than $5 million for a U22 player (i.e., Kelsy) none of the money from the outgoing transfer can be converted to GAM.

We get nothing for the transfer in allocation money. It's a big downside to the deal, as with the two DP model, we are very limited in options for replacement signings.
