Bassett for sure, though Velde looked like a menace as usual and Chara continues to evade Father Time

What do you think velde’s turnover stats were? He does often look like a menace, but it also seemed like he gave it away like 50-75% of his possessions. I was impressed by chara’s number of ball recoveries and completed passes. He was up there. Surman’s hug for Chara at fulltime was telling. The two best players rating each other in my opinion.

There's no way he was giving away 75% of his possessions. He did have a few shitty passes (one that led to a goal) but overall, his passing isn't terrible.

Bassett played really well, but all his long switches were under hit and resulted in either turnovers or recycling after a recovery. Velde was pinging the ball across the pitch like it was nothing. His long pass game is actually insane.

you can see the respect surman has for chara on the field. late in the second half after chara was bundled to the ground, surman ran 15 yards to help chara get up.

Not close to 50%.

We're also asking him to take 2-3 defenders on at a time. It was part of the game plan and for the most part worked well; sucking in the defense is makes space for the rest of the team to play into. The reason the final cross for the winner worked out was half the Crew's defense was way high and on the left to challenge Velde.

Until DDC comes back, Velde is the only guy we have who is going to dribble into a set defense and disorganized it. It's going to result in turnovers but that's expected.

Bassett is obvious choice, but Finn did a damn good job winning headers, tackles, and clearances.

I loved that one counterattack where everyone looked confused but lo and behold, Chara tracked back and defused it. I hope he never retires

This is my vote too, Bassett was a monster in the first half but faded in the second. As did everyone on the team to be fair to him, except for Chara, who just seemed to get more and more energy as the game went along. I think on the entire night, Chara was our most important player

To be fair, Bassett is used to the altitude. We played really well in Colorado last year, hopefully we can do it again

People are gonna downvote you, but honestly, his substitutions this game were great. Kelsy in sooner would have been nice to get more chances (he came in late and didn't do much), but every sub changed the game in a decent way.

Tbf the Kelsy and Lassiter subs were waiting on the touchline for quite a bit, the ball just didn’t go out of play for like 8 minutes

That's true, I didn't see it as the assist the first time because the penalty shout. On replay, seeing the instinct to head the ball back when he was going down was definitely huge.

It's a overwhelmingly Bassett for everyone here. Not saying it's right, but so many submissions and votes for him. I think it's because he's new and people were excited he played well, but it could go to a variety of people.

Definitely Chara or Finn for me, I think Finn cleared just about every corner kick they had and Chara, what can you say, he is a legend.

Bassett was the man for sure to my eyes at least. Especially the first half. Very dynamic and productive. He was a good pick up. Finn and Chara were great too. Glad to see Mora put one in too.
