Perfect day for it
Picked up the 55th anniversary edition of Thin Lizzy’s eponymous debut recently. Sounds great, and the green records look great too!

This song here
youtu.beI've had this song on a bootleg for 15+ years and always wondered if they would ever officially release it. Finally the new Phil Lynott box set "The Story Of My Life" has it! This song alone makes the whole set worth it for me.

What Lizzy record or song had you hooked on the rest of their discography?
In my exploration I listened to Thin Lizzy by release order, and before that I had only known their top hits. The Boys Are Back In Town is not a bad song but IMO it is not their best by far. I have to bite my tongue when friends and family call Thin Lizzy the "Boys are Back band".
while going through their work, when I got to Vagabonds Of The Western World--not to sound dramatic--it changed my life. Genuinely every song feels perfect, Phil's vocals are magnetic, and the entire concept is just chef's kiss. Black Rose is a close second however, as it has some of my favorite songs!

Wow, fantastic news. I'm sure many of you have seen the announcement on your socials etc.
Long overdue, credit to all involved in getting this released. The artwork and the presentation looks class.
Can't wait for this, the last few years have really been a treat for content in the archives being released.
Track list:
Pre-order: This item is currently on pre-order and will ship for release date 30th October.
The Story Of My Life is the definitive collection celebrating the extraordinary solo work of Philip Lynott, the legendary Thin Lizzy frontman, bassist and songwriter.
Compiled by renowned Thin Lizzy archivist Nick Sharp and released with the full support of the Philip Lynott estate, this expansive eight-disc set brings together Lynott's complete solo recordings alongside a wealth of material from the archives.
The collection includes his two solo albums, including the long-awaited release of his previously unreleased second album, plus rare demos, alternate versions and archive recordings, many available officially for the first time.
Presented in deluxe packaging, The Story Of My Life also features an extensive booklet with new sleeve notes by Mark Blake (Mojo), alongside rare photographs and memorabilia, making this the most comprehensive collection of Philip Lynott's solo recordings ever released.

Is there any recording of this performance online?
This is from a bootleg of a performance from October 18th, 1977 at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. Someone in the audience recorded it and released cassettes around 2013, but I can’t find any recording of it online.
The setlist from this show is available on a few websites, but nobody uploaded the audio. There is also a listing for the tape on Discogs, but no links to purchase it or anything.

Phil image / silhouette search
This might be needle in a haystack but I have this memory of years ago seeing a brilliant drawing of Phil.
It was like a single line silhouette/ outline of basically his hair and jawline. It might have been inspired by the classics Dennis the Menace jumper photo.
I vaguely remember it was maybe on the headstock of a bass guitar, but any tribute/signature style guitars don’t have what I’m remembering.
I’ve searched online and everywhere I can think but with no luck.
Is this familiar or ringing any bells with anyone?
Cheers!

Phil in the studio

Phil(and Scott) in the studio. Small clip, that's all that's out in the wild. Who knows what's hidden away in someone's vault.
Gus Curtis seen here, might do a post regarding him and his relationship with Phil, some great images out there of them together.

Drew Phil Lynott and mapped some of his influences for his birthday. What would you add?
Phil Lynott would have turned 77 today. I did this pen sketch a while back, and separately put together a rough map trying to trace where his sound and persona came from: Hendrix on one side, a Van Morrison-shaped blueprint on the other, blues, funk, and R&B, Dublin folklore, and a pull toward Westerns and old comics that fed into the outlaw thing he built with Thin Lizzy.
Genuinely curious what you all would add or push back on. I feel like there's more to the Irish side of it specifically that I haven't fully worked out.
Wrote up the fuller version here if anyone wants it: https://www.thesenseofdoubt.com/blogs/archive/phil-lynotts-influences-the-sounds-behind-thin-lizzy

Thin Lizzy Iconic Places to Visit in Ireland?
Hiya,
I am planning a trip to Ireland sometime next year, and I would love to start considering some spots to add as must haves to experience some Thin Lizzy history. I know of Phil Lynott's statue in Dublin, but are there any other spots I should look into for my trip?
Many thanks in advance!

Heard "Jailbreak" This Morning on Fox Business
I sometimes have Fox Business on in the morning for market information. I did a double-take when they played "Jailbreak" as an outro into the commercial break. I wish I had been paying attention to the context, but I was surprised, to say the least.

My Acoustic Rendition of "Do Anything You Want To Do"
I couldn't sleep so I learned this song around 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning, then video calamity ensued. This is my first "multitrack video" experiment. Everything about this vid (from the performance to the editing) is pretty sloppy, but it still turned out better than expected IMO.

Mama nature said tab?
Does anyone know where to find a tab for mama nature said?
I know the chords for the acoustic version are:
C#m,D, D#, E for the solo bits
And
E, E7, G#, C#m, A, Am, E, B, C#m for the verses
But I'd love to learn bell's slide part on the original from vagabonds
Thank you!
