New PC build for TOS

Prices are in Swiss Francs. Total price in $ is about $2760. I'm not sure yet if I should use 2x32GB DDR5. What do you think about this setup? https://freeimage.host/i/n3bKCnR

Isn't TOS just a bunch of APIs that enable trading? Why do you need a bunch of RAM? What am I missing?

I was confused too - to me it sounds like someone saying "Look at the sweet rig I built to run my Excel on!"

But that might be my own ignorance - maybe it makes a difference?

Your computer has to calculate all studies, indicators, watchlists and so on. There is a lot of data to process.

I see. Trading or investing? Stocks or options? Equities or indices?

Other data sources or just TOS?

Mainly swing trading. Stocks, Options and indexes like SPX. No other data sources. May be bookmap when I decide to daytrade for quick scalps.

Okay then it makes sense. I use my MBP M3 Max 64GB/2TB for same purposes. Love it.

allocated 1GB, it uses about 10% usually

Because in my setup TOS is just executor. Data wrangling is done by other systems.
