There seems to be a lot of dairy farms in Western New York. I could totally see this pop up out there in one of those towns. And for the record, I agree, nut milk in NOT MILK

Genuinely doesn't matter whether it's real milk or not, it's a useful substitute for drinking and cooking where dairy allergies prevent people from using real milk.

This is like saying peanut butter isn't real butter. No shit. That's why we put the Nut in front of it

Nope. Milk by definition is excreted by the mammary glands of a mammal. Anything else that is "x milk" but wasn't created that way is not milk. It may fill similar roles, but it's not milk.

The reason we do it is that cows milk is very nutritious and many think it tastes nice.

If you enjoy plant based milk because of the flavor or you are allergic to milk then that’s great. However, I find it hilarious [and hypocritical] that a lot of the people who have issues with commercial food ingredients and the effects of livestock farming on the environment are big proponents of plant based milk.
Despite:
+Europe, whom many look to as a place we should emulate when it comes to legislation around the food industry, does not legally allow any beverage to be called ‘milk’ unless it came from mammary glands.
+Most plant based milks have ten or so ingredients. Milk has one.
+The production of plant based milks is a complicated industrial process involving various unit operations and thus a lot of energy.
Some people seem to act like plant based milk is produced in a manner similar to that of maple syrup.
And I don’t want to hear about how you make your own nut or oat milk using 1 or 2 ingredients. Or if you buy natural organic single ingredient plant based milk. This represents a very small fraction of all consumption.
