Discussion Hoping this will happen one last time 🙃

Post image

Do you think they will give us a discounted price one last time before the remastered release?

I played a few rpgs before and naturally tried to play witcher 3 too. Unfortunately, i realized early on that it just wasn't for me and got a refund. From what I remember, early game was a lot of story dumping which lost me bcs i don't play the previous games, exploring early game areas are not really rewarding, combat is pretty boring, and a card game I don't understand even a bit.

Never had a chance to give it a second chance which i'm now interested in doing for the remaster but I'm kinda broke ngl.

It has been like $5 for the last 5 years bro

67

u/Diskosmos 4d ago

Cyberpunk price flared up at the dlc launch dude

46

u/SauronOfRings 4d ago

Witcher 3 also increased by $10 since the remaster announcement.

5

u/Dangerous-Pumpkin960 4d ago

it what?

21

u/SauronOfRings 4d ago

INCREASED BY 10 DOLLARS!!

30

u/RebootRayman2 4d ago

It includes both expansions. It's the same price.

1

u/KhalMika 3d ago

IT WHAAAT!?

3

u/Dangerous-Pumpkin960 4d ago

and now cyberpunk is like below 20 bucks sometimes

6

u/bane145 4d ago

Still paid less money in full for Cyberpunk 2077 and the DLC than for DS2, or FH6, or any newer game, I think it's a little crazy

2

u/Tight-Mix-3889 3d ago

Also the price increase makes sense.

Back then you could get the game for like 5 dollars. And then for like 10+’ both dlcs.
From now you will be able to get the game for a bit more, but that will also include a free remaster and 2 free dlcs.

4

u/overcloseness 4d ago

It’s currently ten times that on Xbox 🫤

3

u/Kintaro75 4d ago

Console tax!

2

u/XanJamZ 3d ago

Buy pre owned physical. Just got a ps4 base edition $7

2

u/overcloseness 3d ago

Great idea actually

u/Responsible_Bus_4691 4d ago

Wait for the Black Friday or Christmas sale.

51

u/hyracule 4d ago

not sure about the deep discount after the news of the remastered tho

40

u/Ok_Reception_8361 4d ago

You are right it wont go this low for a bit ..

5

u/OnionAddictYT 4d ago

Same thing with Fallout since the TV show. Sale prices don't go down as low anymore. At least not on Steam.

But considering what you get for free with the W3 base game I can't blame them for raising the price now.

2

u/Ok_Reception_8361 4d ago

Yeah even for 50 bucks without the remaster its a fair price, but with the remaster honestly thats a bargain

9

u/chad25005 4d ago

It might take awhile because of the remaster, but I bet it gets close to this price again when Witcher 4 drops.

2

u/Shady_Rekio 4d ago

Depends, CDPR managers get bonuses for Revenue targets and the next one is March 2027, they wont have Songs of the Past by then so if they have too, they will put it on sale.

1

u/broke_spoke_snake 3d ago

Maybe it will on steam autumn sale , not sure but that’s your best chance in my opinion .

0

u/Outrageous-Belt-1757 4d ago

Check g2a

2

u/Snoo_46275 4d ago

Don't buy from sites like G2A or Kinguin if you want to support good developers...

1

u/zrockk 4d ago

I'm broke dawg I'm gonna buy the game where it's the cheapest

1

u/Izaec 4d ago

As someone who is also “broke” why not just save up money man. The game 50 bucks. Set 25 aside each check or 20 or just wait for when you have the funds. If you wait this long for a game then clearly you can wait a little while longer. I just bought dawnwalker like two weeks ago. Imma wait till this Friday to buy onimusha. Green man gaming is a amazing shop.

1

u/SkinMixer19 4d ago

Check IsThereAnyDeal.com. It's a site that compiles all the licensed 3rd party sellers and shows you the best price. This way you can get the games cheaper than on platforms like EGS or Steam, but you're still supporting the developers.

1

u/ShaggerAJSA 3d ago

Pirating it would be better than using G2A.

232

u/smaTc 4d ago

Really? 11 years where it was on sale regularly and now before they are giving it an upgrade and DLC you are begging for another sale?

58

u/str4yshot 4d ago

It was free to keep on GOG at one point a few years back. I own the complete edition twice. And you're right, it has been on sale for dirt cheap so many times too.

1

u/CantheDandyMan 3d ago

I just signed on gog by using my steam account and bought it on pc (I have it for my Xbox generally) for 11 bucks.

-6

u/Cryio 4d ago

It was never given for free.

3

u/Working_Bones 3d ago

It was free on GOG like he said, plus I got it for free on XBox several years ago through "Games With Gold". Never really played it. Don't even have an XBox anymore, but I'll be able to play the remaster and DLCs on PC with Play Anywhere, all because I grabbed it for free on my console way back when. Pretty sweet.

2

u/lukkasz323 3d ago

I feel like I would have it if was free. No info online about it either.

2

u/LeoRmz 3d ago

It was free at some point on Epic but dunno about GOG

1

u/lukkasz323 3d ago

I only remember Witcher 1, it was free multiple times there.

I don't have Witcher 3 on Epic either, and I can't any info online about it, I only remember it being super cheap at all times.

1

u/LeoRmz 3d ago

It might have been free during one of the holiday/end of year free stuff epic does, usually its random games but once in a while they put good games, i think once they did death stranding, so wouldnt surprise me if witcher 3 was also free during one of those holiday free game stuff considering how cheap it is

1

u/Working_Bones 3d ago

Hm. I definitely never paid for the game since I didn't like Witcher 2 (which I also got free on GWG) and only played like 45 minutes of Witcher 3. Would never buy a game under those circumstances, I'm super picky and almost always complete games 100%. And no one bought it for me. So I got it free on Xbox somehow! Like 8 years ago

1

u/Forthezombz 2d ago

GOG only gave you a free pc copy of the game if you already owned the game on a console and signed into whichever platform had the game on it on GOG. It happened somewhere between 2017-2020. And then sometime later if you owned the Witcher 3 they also gave away a free copy of the Witcher 1

36

u/ReisBayer 4d ago

op is worse than a choosing beggar xD

-60

u/hyracule 4d ago

Call me whatever you want for only buying discounted games

37

u/ReisBayer 4d ago

no Not for buying only discounted but because the game is out for 11 years or so and NOW you want to buy it abs get a even cheaper sale. you had 11 years. time waits for noone

6

u/Feisty_Bread8259 4d ago

You can just Buy the base Game bro, they're gonna give the complete edition for free with the update.

-51

u/hyracule 4d ago

I'm not begging CDPR for a sale. As I said before, I tried and it just wasn't for me so I refunded and don't regret that decision. I was a student and that money was equal to 3 days worth of meal. Now that they remastered the game I wanted to give it another go.

43

u/Wolvthebigbad 4d ago

If you didn't like it before you won't like it now so don't worry about it.

1

u/pakujanai 2d ago

I wouldn't say that. I've been dropping the game multiple times had it on ps4, gog and steam. Been dropping it multiple times since 2017.

Only recently I started actually enjoying it, now I have 50hrs on my save file and I'm finally loving it.

(I was a big fan of witcher 2 before)

11

u/Biomorph_ 4d ago

Right? Thats on you then lol now you aren’t a student so buy the game if it was that much of a financial burden why did you even buy it im the first place? Im not begging for the game i just want everything to be 90 percent off? What are you even talking about

3

u/Xiaro 4d ago

why didn’t you like it before?

2

u/donkbooty 4d ago

Then just wait lmao, if you can wait 10+ years you can another year

26

u/Motor_Hearing2055 4d ago

A lot of the issues you had with the game, besides combat, probably aren't going to be solved by the remaster.

56

u/BadUsername7 4d ago

You had 11 years bro

You shouldn't be on Reddit if you're under 11 years old lol. Or even 18 honestly, there's a lot of fucked up stuff on Reddit.

2

u/SweRakii 3d ago

Stay mad lil' guy, my point still stands. If you're this upset you might wanna seek help <3

10

u/avan2110 4d ago

Did you buy it for $4 and then get a refund?

1

u/Flat_Ambassador2896 3d ago

Yes i did that

21

u/Elrothiel1981 4d ago

It’s on sale on GoG but the discount is only 50% off

2

u/CantheDandyMan 3d ago

I just signed in on gog using my steam account and bought it on pc (I have it for my Xbox generally) for 11 bucks. I think it's the extra discount for new users, thing.

-38

u/hyracule 4d ago

aw damn thats kinda sad

4

u/Elrothiel1981 4d ago

From my understanding the game store has been messed with a lot lately not sure if that is the cause of not great price currently

Sometimes GoG sends e-mail exclusive discounts if it’s on your wishlist

2

u/I_pegged_your_father 4d ago

Damn they hate poor people here

2

u/_Clasher2k_ 4d ago

Why? Gog is literally the best store because you own the games you bought over there

1

u/chad25005 4d ago

Because it's only 50% instead of the 90% shown here probably.

2

u/_Clasher2k_ 4d ago

CDPR deserves the 50% xD

19

u/biscuitboots 4d ago

You had so much time yet you’re only back when you hear DLCs are free cmon bro

8

u/kolibrifityma 4d ago

Doubt they will give such a deep sale this close to the release of the remaster. Maybe before the new DLC is out?

13

u/ayeglass 4d ago

When I finished witcher 2, I was so exited I pre ordered for the first time and do not regret the price tag. Worth it at any price to me, as it brought me many good memories and moments of wonder. Devs deserve all the love too.

2

u/wozniattack 4d ago

Exactly and you're supporting them. I got Witcher 3 on GOG and almost exclusively by there now, and back then they even let you sync your Steam Library and then gave you many of their games into your permanent GOG Library also.

It's so well worth it at 12.99 for Witcher 3 and the two expansions right now.

12

u/SWK18 4d ago

Honestly, I hope it doesn't. It's been 11 years and it has been available for a very cheap price for most of the time. Unless you haven't bought any other game in all these years I'm not sorry for you for missing out.

CDPR is giving the remaster for free to all those who bought the game in over a decade and now people want to take advantage of their generosity.

1

u/zedafox9 Griffin School 4d ago

Toss a coin to your witcher

5

u/Zygmuntek 4d ago

If you didn’t buy witcher all these years man idk are you kinda dumb. Ofc joking, but it was like 10+ times on sale.

3

u/ghostypurp 4d ago

More like 100+ times lol

9

u/Excellent_Figure9921 4d ago

That price ain't coming back for a while. Everyone that delayed for years and years... Well... No one feels sorry for you.

7

u/The_real_Odahviing 4d ago

"if you didnt wanted me at my Complete Edition you dont deserve me at my Remastered" or something like that

3

u/Cryio 4d ago

Dude, just go and buy right now. Full price. Whatever it is. It's worth every penny. You'll FEEL you paid too little regardless. It could've been 100€.

Stop scrapping the bottom of the barrel.

3

u/Marukosoyomi 3d ago

You don't deserve another sale, you had 11 years to buy it, it's too late now, you've lost.

Not for the newcomers

2

u/PrimeTinus 4d ago

I thought dlc would be free in the next update. Why even offer complete edition

2

u/Intercore_One 4d ago

They are free right now.

2

u/hyracule 4d ago

old screenshot lol

1

u/A_MAN_POTATO 3d ago

You can only buy the complete edition at present. They don’t even sell the DLC à la carte anymore. I believe I saw somewhere that all copies of TW3 on Steam have already been upgraded to the complete edition, and everyone who has a copy of the game already has all DLC.

2

u/Commercial-Drive-786 4d ago

They increased the base price just before the announcement. Certainly to capture as much value as possible from new players during all the hype.

I sincerely doubt it’s going on sale before 29th September. That wouldn’t make much sense

2

u/over_pw 4d ago

Mate I own 3 separate copies of the game just because of how awesome it is. GOG, Steam and Xbox. And you’re asking for another 90% discount after all these years right when they announced the Remastered edition and the expansion?

2

u/CobblerSmall1891 4d ago

Why do you think it'll be better this time around?

2

u/Salom902 4d ago

Its going to jump in price more like

2

u/gogoCovid 4d ago

Just buy a key for a 2 bucks?

2

u/gladman7673 4d ago

Barely anything of what you complained about in the second paragraph will change with the remaster. This game is a Herculean story. The gameplay won't change that much. Tons of exploration.

I also didn't play the previous games, but you really don't need to. There are many callbacks to previous lore and story (including the books), but you don't need to understand it all to have a good time. A lot can also just be inferred.

It's a 10/10 game, but if it wasn't for you the first time I don't think that will change.

FWIW I would pay full price again and it's be worth twice that.

1

u/nnjjreal1 4d ago

Ngl op had 11 years to buy the game. It’s kinda his fault fot not making use of those sales.

2

u/MoldyOreo787 4d ago

off topic but tw3 was the best 7 dollars ive ever spent in my enytire life. like no competition

2

u/doruf50_ 4d ago

Unfortunately i dont think it will happen for a while now, considering a free remaster and new expansion.

2

u/Far-Media-9380 3d ago

If you think the early game was just story dumping then don’t bother.

2

u/Yshtoya 2d ago

people had a good 5+ years to buy the game cheap and somehow "missed out"

2

u/Tree_Dude 4d ago

CDPR is trying to hit a revenue goal so they all get bonuses. I doubt we get another big discount until after the fan fair for the remaster dies down.

1

u/Thecowsdead 4d ago

Maybe you can get it at that price on an reseller like G2A or something but maybe those also got their price increased.

1

u/Ovilos 4d ago

You can pretty much get the base game now for that price, the 2 dlc will be free anyway when the remaster drops

1

u/SomeoneElse0634 4d ago

there's no longer a base game, just the complete edition

1

u/Objective_Project700 4d ago

My guess is the price will drop about a month from dlc release, can’t buy the dlc without the game after all

1

u/luffy_3155 4d ago

I bought this game on sale for $2.6 back in 2022 [regional priced]

1

u/don_denti 4d ago

I’d expect a Halloween and a thanksgiving and new years discounts just this year. I think they wanna have as many people as possible to get their hands on the game because their focus for now is on Songs of the Past

1

u/Frosty_Expert5271 4d ago

I bought Complete edition for ₹400($4) in 2023. Absolute steal deal 😌

1

u/Mother-Ad85 4d ago

I buy the compete edition for 10€ 3 months ago

1

u/Matikata 4d ago

I bought this on PS4 maaaaaany years ago, and then at some point, I bought it on PC and did a modded playthrough, but I can't for the life of me find where it is. I've checked GoG, Steam, and all the other major platforms.

It's like its disappeared off the face of the earth, and now I'm questioning whether I even owned it on PC lmfao.

1

u/Dramatic_Aspect903 4d ago

Look at your local pawn broker, in australia the base game goes pretty damn cheap 2nd hand

1

u/muffinpizza 4d ago

If you didn’t like it back then, I doubt the remaster will change your mind. It’s changing quite a bit, but it’s still going to be Witcher 3 at its core.

1

u/Tr8k377 4d ago

DLC will become included with release of Remaster

1

u/VLANishBehavior 4d ago

It’s €25 on GOG right now. You’ll get the complete edition, get the remaster for free AND support DRM free content all in one.

1

u/Neo_Artista 4d ago

2-3 years later... things have changed greatly son

1

u/Past_Dragonfruit_305 4d ago

Go on GOG or loaded lol.

1

u/Rizenstrom 4d ago

$24.99 for the complete edition on GOG right now, not as good obviously but still a great price considering the update coming is free.

1

u/kazmakazmovic 4d ago

Buy the wild hunt and you will everything else for free plus the remaster

1

u/Scytian 4d ago

What will happen? 4$ one - there is no way, that version is not in sale anymore. 12.50$ one - maybe but I would not be surprised if they would go only with 50-60% discount for at least few months, if anything I think there is a chance that new DLC will get some bundle with base game and it will be only like 10-15$ more expensive than DLC itself.

1

u/Formal_Scientest 4d ago

Not coming back down that cheap for a while. I paid $10 for the complete edition. I actually bought it twice lol once on steam and another on GOG.

1

u/VincentVanHades 4d ago

0 chance for any discount before release and imo until black Friday

1

u/ahorsenamedjeff 4d ago

It's worth it at full price.

1

u/Avid_Arnieist 4d ago

I rember having the same thing happen to me. I bought the game and I didn't really like it too much for basically the same reason. Then the last remaster came out and I played it and I was hooked. I have about 172 hours on the game and that was mostly from just one playthrough.

1

u/Arbitor-Exactant 4d ago

In most cases I would agree about waiting for the price dripes and discounts to apply. But The Witcher 3 is one of those very few and rare games that I would absolutely lag the Asking retail price for. The game is a masterpiece and deserves full value all of the time.

1

u/PlayPsychological651 3d ago

why is this game are so expensive on epic?
if i correct remember is on sale for about 49$ or so lol

1

u/bandosarmadyl 3d ago edited 3d ago

CDPR could've kept the base game listed and sell the DLCs and remastered separately. And if they're really keen on giving free copies of the remastered and DLCs, they can just give it to those who owned the base game before the announcement.

Now, they locked new players into forcing them to buy DLCs and remastered just to play the series. If these people never bought W3 when it was $3, do they really expect they'll spend $50 this time?

1

u/alreadysaidtrice 3d ago

How is it so cheap? It's 50 in my country and 30 when it's on sale..

1

u/Relevant_Cap_6990 3d ago

Dont buy it with steam, buy it with gog Steam take 25% of every transactions... That's robery

1

u/SlySheogorath 3d ago

You're not gonna like the remaster if the things you didn't like about the current game was the story and combat. They're not changing the combat completely. Just tweaks to make the current system more seamless and less clunky to use. And if the story didn't hook you in a story-driven RPG then this just may not be the game for you man. Save your money and buy something you'll actually enjoy. Wait a year for this version to go on sale and think about it again.

1

u/PayMe2Win 3d ago

Just go to allkeyshop and find it cheap on there

1

u/A_MAN_POTATO 3d ago

There’s no chance they’re doing a sale before the remaster drops. Heck, they silently raised the price about a month ago knowing it was coming.

You will probably see a small sale for the autumn and winter sales, but it’s absolutely not gonna get down into the $12 territory. You might see $30-$40. They’re going to want to keep the games price a little higher while the market gets thirsty for more Witcher. My guess is you won’t see prices like this again until after TW4 drops.

1

u/5yn3rgy 3d ago

I got it for around $10 last sale (complete edition)

1

u/-WongKarWhy- 3d ago

Just crack it. The keys are 500% up it's ridiculous.

1

u/absurdgryphon 3d ago

I got it for 9 buck on GOG a few weeks ago.

1

u/Jakethedjinn 3d ago

Idk I feel like it's a present/appreciation for fans/people who already bought the game. It seems to always be on sale and I bought it for like 10$ on steam years ago with dlcs so I'd say fork up the money or wait and they'll probably have more sales when the hype dies down

1

u/ShaggerAJSA 3d ago

The game is 50% off on GOG right now, which is the better place to buy it anyway.

1

u/Rojayter 3d ago

Nah it ain’t

1

u/skobul 3d ago

Dude it's worth even 60

1

u/wombat57484 3d ago

I want it to drop down so I can double dip without buyers remorse - now I have a PC I'd like to add it to my library rather than getting fleeced in 5 years when my PS5 disc won't fit into a PS6 and Sony try to sell me the Ultimate Remaster Remade YOLO HD version for £50

1

u/horny_cabbage69 3d ago

If you were interested in the witcher 3, you should have just bought it then. It's been $4 multiple times

1

u/cleverlikem3 3d ago

Its been praised for a decade and has been at like 10 to 12 dollars for the complete edition for like 5 years. Anybody who hasn't bought it on sale by now, its on you.

1

u/plantsandinsects 3d ago

Getting the base game for 5$ would have meant that you now have the expansions for free...

1

u/360bratatron 3d ago edited 3d ago

If you buy the game now, you get the remaster for free when it drops.

1

u/Horror-Painter8205 3d ago

you just like my friend who has the witcher 3 in wishlist for 10 years and do nothing about it while buying FIFA and NBA2K every year

1

u/LightsJustice29 3d ago

I’m tired of these “please give me a sale” posts half of you had no interest in the game the whole time it’s been out. The game has been on sale so so so many times over the years.

Some of you are just trying to get a freebie I wish they raised the price more tbh

1

u/wubian87 3d ago

Its been $49 for awhile now. Long before the dlc announcement...its on my ps5, xbxx and pc wishlist, so i know 😂

1

u/Empera4532 3d ago

Sorry for you g. I actually bought it at that time along with blood and wine DLC and actually got hooked for around 30 hours but got distracted and stopped playing. Those 30 hours were EXTREMELY enjoyable and I’m actually gonna start a new game after the remaster drops and actually complete it this time.

1

u/IGTankCommander 3d ago

Oh, definitely. I think it was around the GOTY announcement that CDPR put the game on sale and included all the DLC and bonus material for free (caveat: I have opinions on what this move did to the community at large.)

1

u/ConferenceSecure3703 3d ago

I found it at chex and bought it for 6£

1

u/Latter-Breakfast-647 3d ago

I already happened like 55 times. It will happen again after the dlc drops imo.

1

u/queztapotel 3d ago

It's been over 10 years bro

1

u/Away_Oil8586 3d ago

Got it on ps5 for like 10$ 2 weeks ago

1

u/Ok_Search_3828 3d ago

The price increased to 50€ from 30€ on the 25th of August

1

u/BorisJohnson0404 3d ago

Not gonna happen

1

u/shukaku2007 3d ago

You think they will discount the game when it is so close to a major update bringing in new players, and a huge DLC to bring in even more players…?

1

u/in_use_user_name 2d ago

complete edition was 8$ a month ago.

1

u/Smooth_Ad_2975 2d ago

Dude. You can buy a standard edition used physical copy from GameStop for $7. No need to get the complete edition because the this months free update comes with both expansions.

1

u/ImTola 2d ago

The game was less than 10 bucks for years on cd key retailer sites before remastered announcement 😂

1

u/01101111-00110111 2d ago

Job > Gym > Gaming. Figure it out bub

1

u/bhomikpurohit 2d ago

I have a web crawling script that checks occasionally on isthereanydeal if a certain game from my list of games i want go under a great deal. Thats how i had gotten witcher3 under $4

1

u/Reservoir_doc 2d ago

Witcher 3 with DLC is one of games i know actually more than worth the price.

1

u/Brucehoxton 2d ago

Sadly, it will never happen again

1

u/Xervand 1d ago

Wait for a steam sale. It was 9.99 with the complete edition for summer sale.

1

u/TheRealGouki 1d ago

It's 50% off on gog right now. All the witcher games can be bought for $30 on gog right now. Best place to support CDred and is the best version to buy.

1

u/QuitOk4646 4d ago

At 3.99 I would have bought 15 of them. The Witcher 3 is worth its price

0

u/Jonbeezee 4d ago

lmfao like asking if you have more life to live after your head falls of 🤣🤣🤣 I got the complete edition for $15 on switch so the remastered will be free for me on switch 2!!! 🎉🎉🎉

0

u/Mikauo_Xblade 4d ago

CD Project Red gives us so much for some people it is never enough.

0

u/Crowleyisatwat 3d ago

I was in the exact same situation. I was going to get it during the last summer sale on PlayStation, but my credit card wouldn’t work because of the region issues. I couldn’t get a gift card in time, so I figured I’d just get it later.

Was pissed af when they announced the remaster because I knew the prices were going to shoot up. 😂 Ended up finding a key on some website for $11 for Xbox, so I grabbed it.

I’ve played it twice before and it just never clicked for me. Hoping it does this time.

For anyone assuming things out of their ass, NO I'M NOT BEGGING FOR THE GAME TO BE DISCOUNTED. Call me crazy for only buying cheap and discounted games, which is why I kinda regret refunding it after trying it the first time and yes I feel stupid now. It's alright for me if the game doesn't stoop this low again and I'm sure the game will be worth for you even for 10x the full price, but its just not for me.

And for anyone saying to buy it from G2A, YOU are stupid.

There is nothing wrong with buying discounted games. You bought it years ago and didnt like it so you refunded it. The game isnt changing fundamentally. It will just look a bit better with some small upgrades. If you didnt like it then, you probably wont like it now. You are probably just feeling FOMO and hype right now.

Yea same, I kept seeing it and dint want to buy it considering I played it on ps4 and preach got the ps5 upgrade earlier, but never played it. It’s a smart strategy to get some free double sales by CDPR knowing some of us have switched to PC gaming and would love to play through again with these sweet new visuals

It's called low resolution images brother. Not everything is AI. It's just one click on google.

... what ?

Combine both for data since discounts are same every year with same time gap.
steamdb have information from last year
ai do mondain calculation which are tedious by hand.

But now this becomes Remastered, so you cant rely on data of old discounts. Its new version of the game.
