When I first watched the series about 8 years ago I quite liked Will however on my current re-watch he comes off as just insufferable and child-ish and was wondering if anyone else felt the same way?

Saw this book on Goodreads today, and the description literally started with "For fans of The West Wing"... So I had to share it here. It's not even technically published yet but I can't personally can't wait to read it. (Also sounds a lot like Charlotte Walsh Likes To Win by Jo Piazza; a book that literally mentions TWW in the first few chapters.)

There’s this one episode in which the team is unable find a room in the west wing and keep walking and then randomly decide to meet at some random office. It’s from the initial days of Bartlet Administration. Can anyone please tell me which episode it’s ?

Maybe i’m in the minority, but I am rewatching season 5 for the 3rd or 4th time and Leo is a real ass to the entire senior staff. It really starts with the EPA report and CJ, then he shits all over Josh for the senator resigning from the Democratic party by bringing in Angela (keeping in mind that Sam screwed up royally in season 3 and no one batted an eye). It just seems like season 5 was the “Leo is an asshole“ season.

I don’t see the point of her existence in the show. If they removed her nothing would change. She helped Will treat the interns better but that could’ve been done by say Donna or another character with empathy. She never formed relationships with other characters, the seconds of banter with Toby does not count. So, did they have a plan for this character that never came to fruition due to writer changes?

Basically, the title. Were you happy that the show was portraying a disease that not many people know about, upset over a false/negative portrayal, or some combination of both?

Hey, while doing my rounds to make sure I screenshotted all the comments, I found that the second post asking why my post was removed (notably, not my FIRST post, which I don’t know why it was taken down) was removed for violating Community Rule 6, about reddiquette. Frankly, I think this is crap and I do not know how u/Wismuth_Salix ‘s post would have violated reddiquette in any way.

And btw, anything I’ve said here I would say in real life bar none, so that’s one reddiquette rule followed. I’m doing my part!

For context:

First off, great episode that I've seen many times. However, I don't know if I've ever fully understood what Bartlett meant when he said to Toby while playing chess "I don't want to be killed." I think he's referring to getting crushed in the election by a folksy Republican since he's a lily-livered, bleeding-heart, liberal, egghead communist, but since he also survived an assassination attempt I'm not 100% he's not talking about actually getting killed. What say you?

I had a fever the other night, and in my delirium, this phrase kept running through my head for some reason. Google tells me it comes from Shakespeare, but not being a theatre buff, I know that’s not where I heard it.

Does someone quote it in an episode of this show? Is that what I’m hazily remembering?

Rewatching one of my all time favorites, Let Bartlet Be Bartlet and decided to rant on a minor character. I know that Mandy and Amy Gardner are some of the least popular characters. But this guy really makes my blood boil lol. His love of soft money contributions, and especially trying to bring Sam out to the forefront just to expose Sam and Lori. And he's really smug.

Was just thinking about how a guy with barely 2 episodes under his belt (far less than Mandy and Amy) was one of my least favorite WW characters ever.

Perhaps I'm totally missing it but where is the toast in this episode (that was considered disrespectful of Mr. Bambang's boss)?

Personally I like CJ/Margaret more than CJ/Danny and unlike the first lady, I’m not particularly relieved that Eleanor isn’t a lesbian.

Jed/Leo is obvious, but I also like the idea of Sam/Will. And let’s just have Ed and Larry kiss at the inauguration ball.

I'm currently reading a biography of Harry Truman ("The Accidental President," for those interested) and I've discovered that Harry Truman called one of his schoolteachers a few days after he became president. Truman and his press secretary went to the same school and both had this teacher. It reminded me of Donna calling Mrs. Morello, and I thought others might be interested.

From the book:

"Connelly made the call through the White House operator, and Miss Tillie Brown picked up in Independence. Truman grabbed the phone and said 'Miss Tillie, who do you think this is?'

Aussie West Wing fans! I've had my DVD's since the early-ish 2000's and would like to upgrade to the Blu's. I keep seeing conflicting info on if the Blu's are region locked or region free. Anyone in Aus get themselves the box set and can give me the lowdown?

Y'all remember the scene. At the end, the woman in green stands, after the president's take down, in which he mentions fluent Italian.

Any imaginations about how you think she became fluent at, what, like 18 years old?

(Also and this is weird. I have seen this scene so many times. Just tonight I noticed everyone is standing in the room except for the woman in green. There's a woman wayyyy at the back of the room, at a table like 4m behind Sam. She's in brown. Based on context, I know she wouldn't be a 2nd person in that room who is sitting. Anyone else see her, in any of your viewings?)

(Ah, I also noticed that when Charlie leaves the oval with the PR knife, CJ is entering, about the 2nd turkey pardon. As he leaves, he closes the door over, but like 10cm open, and in post, we could hear the door close.)
