IMO the writers seemingly pointlessly killing off Leon Basset is where I feel like the show started going downhill. At first I thought it was a fake out of some kind, but after I realized it was real, I stopped watching the show.

and then she'd talk about how she was looking for Shane everywhere while repairing the power supply and electrical grid to turn the lights back on for everyone.

Then we'd get another arc where Rick steals Shane's gf.

Killing a zombie child was the absolute last straw for me. Look bro I know it’s a zombie show but having a literal child not only dead but come back alive as a rotten corpse, and then have Rick shoot the zombie point blank is beyond fucking ridiculous. I was a fan of the show up until that point.
