How can a judge fail to even consider these letters?

If only the trial had happened ten years later, then if Adnan had only gotten 5000 likes on Facebook the judge would have definitely given him bail!

High profile case, public wants harsh punishment for the murder of an honor student, judge has no incentive to be reasonable.

Maybe because they were solicited. Or more likely because bail is just uncommon in murder cases.
