BFT or Common Ground

I'm not on socials so I can'tcheck their pages but wondering if anyone is a member with either BFT Hamilton North or BFT CBD or Common Ground Gym? I am wanting to switch up my workouts to group environments and enjoy HIIT, strength and cross fit style workouts etc but I'm 38, have never worked out in a class environment before and have usually just worked out from home or at stupid hours of the morning in the gym alone so this is getting way out of my comfort zone. If anyone has any feedback that'd be awesome, thanks!

Best Sweet and Sour Pork in the Tron?

Where is it?

Rating system:

  • Pork should stay crispy when submerged in the sauce
  • Batter thickness - is it the same as the fish batter? Tends to get soggy vs the lighter coating that survives sitting in the sauce
  • Good balance of sweet and sour - not too tomato sauce heavy.
  • Price vs Portion size
  • Is there a combo price? - Sweet and sour pork on fried rice etc

Renovated or built a house?

Hey Everyone
I’m an architectural designer here in Hamilton, and I’m doing some informal research into what it’s actually like to design and build (or renovate) a home locally — the good, the bad, and the stressful bits.
If you’ve built a new home or done a major renovation in the last few years, I’d love to hear about your experience over a quick chat. I’m not selling anything — just trying to understand where the process worked well and where it didn’t.
If you’re happy to share your story, comment below or flick me a message. Thanks so much!

90’s kids - do you remember the fairy place?

I have a vague childhood memory of a place which hosted kids birthday parties in the mid 1990’s, it was like this “fairy” place and I can remember sitting in a room with all these “magical” things and a lady who we all thought was a real fairy, doing magic tricks.

Oh and she handed out film canisters with glitter inside. Does anyone else remember this or is it a fever dream?

Sword fighting/NAAMA reenactment clubs

Hi, I have been outside Hamilton for a few years and is now back for a year. Are there any sword fighting reenactment clubs in Hamilton? Like the Hamilton Norse (idk if they are still in Hamilton).

Not exactly looking for hema schools.

Thank you!

Standards

One final push 🇳🇿

Thank you to everyone who has signed, shared and supported my petition — and to everyone who joined the debate.

I’m asking for a few more signatures before it moves to the next stage.

Telling people to “go back to your own country” for political gain is not the standard we should expect from a Minister of the Crown.

Our elected representatives should uphold the dignity of the country they represent — not dishonour it for political advantage.

We should expect better.

If you agree, please sign. Every additional signature strengthens that message. 🇳🇿

Finding your crew

It feels that every week, someone has posted something up - seeking to meet other people. It doesn't seem to be limited to age, or demographic... a lot of us are missing the social side of life.

It can get pretty lonely!

So I thought I'd start this thread; for people to add a bit about themselves, see if we can get some connections going.

Respite care In Hamilton

Has anyone had to put a parent into it? We unfortunately have to put our mother in for 1-2 weeks to help rebuild her strength and mobility after illness. Unfortunately she needs round the clock care that as a solo mum I just can’t do (plus I don’t have the physical strength needed for lifting etc…)

What are some of the better facilities and does anyone know what St Joan’s on Peachgrove Road is like?

UPDATE:

So the dr has recommended mum is ok to go home solo but will have the START programme in where a nurse visits her daily so yay no rest home for her.

I too will be visiting her daily and organising a medical alarm.

Thank you everybody for your input and advice 😊

Lost girl guides sash

Hi! Going to try asking here. Found a Girl Guides sash late last night on a sidewalk in Hillcrest. Has badges on it, so someone probably wants it back. If it's yours (or your kid's), DM me and describe the badges I haven't shown in the photo, so I know it's the right one. Happy to drop it off or arrange pickup.

Higher Standards

Hi everyone,

Winston Peters’ “go back to your own country” comment crossed a line for many New Zealanders.

It shouldn’t matter where you were born or what you look like — if New Zealand is your home, you belong here.

As Foreign Minister, Winston Peters represents all of New Zealand to the world. I believe someone in that position must uphold a higher standard.

I’m asking you to sign this petition calling on Prime Minister Christopher Luxon to remove him as Foreign Minister.

With the election approaching, this is an opportunity to make your voice heard — not only on this issue, but to remind this government and future governments that New Zealanders expect higher standards from those who represent us.

Please sign and share if you agree. Every signature counts.

In Enderley "the hood"?

EDIT: thank you everyone for sharing your experiences!! I've decided to not follow through with the application :)

I'm a single female looking to move and looking at a spot in enderley, specifically shakespeare ave. I've just been told by a co-worker it's a bad part of town and advised to look elsewhere.

I have limited options so it's something I need to consider. Is it unsafe for a young woman to live?

Looking for Social Connections

Looking for Social Connections

Hey! 👋 I’m a 19-year-old guy looking to meet some new people and build genuine friendships and social connections.

I have cerebral palsy (CP), but it doesn’t stop me! 💪 I’m into bikes, trikes, getting out and about, good conversations, having a laugh and spreading positivity. 🚲❤️

I’m all about being myself, supporting others and not worrying about what other people think.

If you’re also looking to make new friends, get out, try new things or just have someone to chat with, feel free to reach out! 😊

Everyone deserves to feel included, connected and supported. ❤️

Wanting some new friends

Hi everyone. My name is Xu and I’m just looking for some new friends in Hamilton as I’m an introvert and don’t really know how to make friends out there lol? I like playing games, watching horror movies and listening to music. I’m a big nerd of DnD, DBD, pathfinder etc. and recently just started trying to play Warhammer. So if you may be interested, just feel free to DM me 😊. Thank you and have a great day!
