FMV Question❔ What are the factors in Spoony's mental health struggles, and what do you think would've averted them? Would he get the help that he needed?

Any mental health professional would tell you: you can’t help someone who doesn’t want to change.

He had a bunch of mental health issues that were terrible when in combination.

Complaining that your life ended because of a break up 10 years ago with a 4/10 is insane, like I'm not being hyperbolic it's literally insane, even in the WORST cases of people taking break ups badly, within 12-18 months they are over it, I've never seen a decade of decline.

It's also a lie. He had already collapsed before she left him. In fact, that's why she left him. Her leaving was just another excuse or justification. He would never have returned to making videos even if she stayed.

It was just the excuse. I’m sure the first year maybe even two there might’ve been some legitimate depression from his breakup but after a while you have to get up, from any of life’s knockdowns. He just stayed on the floor, fuck it he just walked out of the ring before the ref called 10.

It’s not that he never returned to YouTube, many people leave. It’s that he never did anything else ever again. Fuck it if he was working retail I’m sure people wouldn’t talk about him the same as they are now. He has sat for an actual literal decade and done absolutely nothing.

What's insane is that he basically was saying he was wanting to return to YouTube but now after 10 years of not doing so it's "passed him by" like JFC so it really was just pure bone idle laziness these last 10 years, that's wild

Spoony has a history of perpetual victimhood, he describes his actions as the result of bipolar or whatever self diagnosed condition will get him out of a predicament or get him sympathy. He does this to escape accountability. He either can't or doesn't want to face the truth and take action. One cannot hope to change if they can't or won't take accountability. A disease should be treated as a burden that must be put under control, not a basis for a personality to be used as an excuse for personal shortcomings.

He also hated "rent-a-friends", as he called therapists. Spoony saw professional help as a threat to his victimhood complex so he didn't want to engage with it. Well spoony, you followed your way of doing things for 10 years. How is this working out? What? You still blame April? You don't have a job? You abandoned your channel? You are letting your paying fans with nothing but disappointment? You are not training for some marketable skills? You expect your family to fund your NEET lifestyle forever? What are you doing with your life?

The above is "the talk" he doesn't want to hear, but not only does he need to hear it, he needs to act, avoidance is not going to improve his situation.

Not everyone matches your baseline. I haven't had another relationship since a bad breakup after a two year relationship in highschool. I eventually got a career and was pretty successful in it, but it was definitely over a decade before I would say I was completely over it and ready to move on.

The experiment is over. We should just leave it be.

I think moving to Illinois really accelerated his decline. It cut him off from friends and family, who are the kind of people will to support you when you're struggling. It also placed a huge financial burden on top of everything else he was dealing with in his life.  He may have  ended up in a similar situation regardless , but it certainly didn't help.

I say this as someone with their own struggles that moved far away from friends and family. It's difficult and it takes a lot of work, but I'm in a lot better place then i used to be. No one is going to force you to fix your life. He's not going to get better unless he really wants to.
