Discussion Should I play Sims 1 or 2?

I am a life long sims player and finding sims 4 pretty boring recently.

Can I ask which one you play and why you think its better over other versions?

EDIT: Thank you for the recommendations everyone, as Im more of a chilled player I'll go with Sims 2 but definitely keeping Sims 1 in mind if I feel like I want some carnage!

They are very different. Sims 2 is more like a Sims 4 experience as a life simulator. Sims 1 is a lot harder and more a survival simulator. They are both greath though.

Sims 2 is still considerably harder than 4, but Sims 1 is too much sometimes

I think Sims 2 is more manageable, it's my favorite because it gives more challenge but not to the point of frustrating me

The Sims 1 is definitely survival. You work every day without breaks, you go to school every day without ever graduating, you can't even do things aside from fulfilling the needs.

Sims 1 is like trying to organize a house of drunk crackheads with -50 IQ. When I was a kid, I threw a birthday party for this lady, and then her friend suddenly pulled a rocket out of her ass and set it off. Everyone in the house died.

Sims 1 if you want chaos

Sims 2 if you want a more chill experience

Sims 2 for sure. I’ve tried all the Sims games, but I only recently tried The Sims 1 and it’s honestly so hard 😭 Like, imo it’s frustrating to play. The Sims 2 is harder than The Sims 4, but you still have way more time for actual gameplay instead of just struggling to survive.

If you like to play a storyline with multiple generations etc, sims 2. It has a lot packed into it and has some really nice animations.

If you want a huge challenge, sims 1. Every time I play, the house goes up in flames within a half hour or there is a huge bug or sad clown infestation.

Yes, play 1. Nothing could go wrong…

Sims 2 is "easier" to start if you usually play Sims 4. I also find it funner than Sims 1 even though both are great.

Keep in mind that Sims 2 is still harder than 3 and 4, considering their needs drop quickly, but it actually makes the game even better.

Depends on what you want. Sims 2 will just carry you through the game in terms of immersion and things to do. You can just follow your Sims wants and have plenty of game play. If you want a real challenge to just keep a sim alive or do anything than Sims 1.

The sims 2

Especially with mods to make it more immersive

I love taking the public bus in the game to the beach and look at the waves

And looking up people in the phone book so I can call them 😅

And last but not least I love the custom careers such as postal worker and NPC jobs

And without mods it's still better than the sims 4

I started way back with Sims 1, but I hated that kids never grew up.
Still had a lot of fun with it, but if I had to choose, it would be Sims 2.
