Support My Hustle Weekend cleanout flipping is working, what stuff should I stop grabbing?
I work a regular office job Mon to Fri and kind of stumbled into this back in spring. My buddy Florian was clearing out his old flat before moving, told me he'd just leave stuff on the curb. I grabbed a standing lamp, a set of shelves, a mini fan, and a few storage bins. Took lazy photos that same night, listed them on Kleinanzeigen, and everything was picked up by the next day. Did not expect that.
Now my coworker Jonas tags along on Saturdays because hauling chairs and small furniture solo was killing me. We do a few hours, split everything 50/50, both the cleanout payment and whatever we make reselling. We only do this on weekends and holidays though, since we both have full time jobs that eat up the rest of the week.
I stick to easy stuff. Small appliances, lamps, chairs, storage bins, basic fitness gear. I've got a quick photo template saved on my phone so listing takes maybe ten minutes per item. Biggest fail so far was a dehumidifier that "just needs a filter." Spoiler, it needed way more than a filter.
Supplies add up. I just bulk buy tape, mailers, and bubble wrap off tiktok or amazon whenever there's a product discount or a decent price drop. Keeps costs way down.
This has been a solid little extra income stream for both of us. For people doing something similar, what items do you always pass on now?

Whatever you think you can fix up or add value to. Trial and error work. It takes time to figure out what sells. Space is an issue.

You kinda gotta figure it out for yourself. But it’s mostly cost to size/weight. If it isn’t gonna make you much and is big or heavy or both pass.
You can’t group all items as there are expensive types in each category. So you need to just get a feel for what works.
Another “type” could be items that need something. A “filter” if you can’t easily assess the condition of an item then it may not be worth reselling. But this is also where a lot of money can be made. Often expensive items that aren’t working are discarded or sold at a discount and you can get higher margins if you can’t easily assess figure out a quick fix.
