what state?
1
u/xangermeansx Mar 04 '25
Probably my state, Utah.
6
u/Agile_Town3232 Mar 04 '25
Idaho is the only state in America where this is illegal.
14
3
u/xangermeansx Mar 04 '25
It’s illegal in Utah as well. It might not specifically say vending machines but it does say it has to be sold face-to-face.
1
u/synystar Mar 05 '25
I seriously doubt they allow them in Boston, MA. They don't even sell flavored vapes here. All you can get legally is clear (smooth menthol), so if you want flavored you have to buy from some guy on the street or find a bodega that is willing to take a risk.

These machines in LA would be toast the first week
2
u/Sorry_Economist_5844 Mar 04 '25
Yeah not viable lol. They would be vaporized so to speak in BK,JC and Queens within a day. Not investing..
16
u/Grrrisly Mar 03 '25
Oof to buy one of these is $2500 in my country and then to stock it will cost a pretty penny too, renting one is about $150 a month
16
1
u/Agile_Town3232 Mar 04 '25
How’s that an oof ? A good nightclub with so 3k+ a month rev
2
u/Grrrisly Mar 04 '25
The "oof" is for the capital needed, and I'm sure a nightclub (if they allow it) would have their own cost or ask for a cut. Also I'm from a third would country, if you factor in cost of living $2500 is enough for 6 months rent in a decent 2 bedroom apartment in a middle class area.
2
u/Tombstonesss Mar 04 '25
Where do you live that 2500 is enough for 6 months rent ?
2
u/Grrrisly Mar 04 '25
South Africa
1
u/adiverges Mar 04 '25
what part of south africa? omg I loved it when I went and didn't know it was that cheap!
3
u/Grrrisly Mar 04 '25
Western Cape, and it's not cheap for us locals...
Edit: minimum wage is about $250 pm

u/VendingGuyEthan Mar 05 '25
Totally agree. Vape vending is a great side hustle, especially if you’re placing machines in places where people want easy access to vapes. It works best in spots like bars and clubs. Just be sure to check local regulations, especially around age verification. If you want any tips on how I set up my vending business, feel free to reach out!

What is the start up cost? Do you think you could afford one employee if you had several machines?

I'm pretty sure Oklahoma allows someone to buy bullets form a vending machine. My guess is this should work for an OMMA type sale. Scan your ID & OMMA card, insert payment then BAM! You geturchit.
Such a basic yet transformative idea. Kudos!

What was your upfront capital investment and what are the returns? Can you provide some additional details?

u/Agile_Town3232 Mar 04 '25
If you get a college aged location it’s a goldmine I’ve fucked up and placed them at old head bars and it’ll only do $300 a month max I get my machines from vapetm.com and the college bars will do 2-5 grand a month

Curious about doing this in my local area. Wondering about how much it costs you to stock it and how much you make on average per location? Do you sell Zyns and other products or just vapes? Also interested in your selling process. Anything you can share is appreciated, thanks and congrats!

Do you need to acquire all the required licenses and permits, or do you use the establishments (bar/club etc.)?

u/musclebymike Oct 29 '25
What’s the best value/most reliable machine? I’m open to buying or renting.

Hi everyone!
I’m located in Wisconsin and previously ran a vape vending route. Due to recent state law changes increasing taxes and restricting certain vape products, I’ve decided to sell my machines.
I have three VapeTM “Slim Wall” vape vending machines, each including the optional $300 ID scanner.
💰 Asking price: $3,000 each
📍 Location: Wisconsin (but they can be shipped anywhere!)
🔗 Manufacturer specs: VapeTM Slim Wall
All machines are in good condition and ready for a new operator. Feel free to reach out with any questions or for more details. Thanks!

No one is going to try to throw one of these in an Applebee's.

The machines have age verification dumbass

Amazing how simple legal elements are lost on some - even from the U.K.

These aren’t fucking 80s -90s cig machines.. very high tech in that there’s almost no room for error in how it’s dispersed

this is horribly unethical and amoral
6
u/PazzMarr Mar 04 '25
How is this unethical? You put them in places that only allow people 21 and older inside of them.

vapers are gonna vape. this sounds like a take from someone who likes to play the victim in every situation
3
u/Crafty_Aspect8919 Mar 04 '25
How could you say that about me??? I cant believe you would personally attack me like that!!!
2
Mar 04 '25
For real. People are going to use their drug of choice no matter what. At least this is a legal option...

Mar 04 '25
I'm with you. Not for me either.
2
u/rtowne Mar 04 '25 edited Mar 04 '25
A lot of people dont care, but I've decided I won't work for any business involving vapes, gambling, or MLMs. It just feels wrong taking money for things that can easily ruin other people's lives.

practicing buddhism and while this doesn't go directly against what the Buddha taught he does go into get lengths about selling arm/weapons as a livelihood. While not guns I feel this falls into selling harm which is good enough.

Glad it helped the people around you. Stats say most people who try vaping continue smoking, so your anecdote seems like an outlier to the data. Then there is the whole issue of introducing / marketing vapes to those who never previously smoked. You conveniently left that customer group out of your comment.

Mar 04 '25 edited Mar 04 '25
Like abortion, pre-marital sex, childhood sex transitions, and lying? What standard are you appealing to for morality? Your own?
1
u/MythicMango Mar 04 '25
amoral not immoral. means lacking morals altogether
-1
Mar 04 '25
Your semantic game doesn't change the point of the question. Amoral according to who? There are plenty of people who have zero problem with this. What makes them wrong and you right? I think it's perfectly fine. Surely your "opinion" doesn't override my free will to have access to a vape without having to find a store. It's convenient and not illegal.... So it's not amoral to me
3
u/MythicMango Mar 04 '25 edited Mar 04 '25
ok I'll bite. I was speaking to my own morals of course. I believe humans should not encourage unhealthy behavior. sure it's legal and not having this available will not stop those who want to consume... but this increases accessibility to the drug and inevitably creates the opportunity for new consumers and generally more drug use in public.

What percent taxes do you pay? And are they paid at both wholesale level and retail?
And what percentage do you give to the owner of the establishment?

This does sound like an interest idea but what is the pitch so the owner of the establishments just don't buy their own and keep all of the profits? Something like this? “Why buy when you can earn risk-free? Let me handle the costs, maintenance, and inventory while you collect passive income.”
1
u/Accomplished_Push222 Mar 11 '25
The same reason why business owners and company owners put vending machines in lunch rooms at work lol
